how do i enable and disable run? i have a annoying friend that loves to play around with the command prompt and i need to lock him out. locking the control panel would also be nice.

    Os would be nice?
95/98/ME you need poledit on your windows disc or one of the other reg tweak programs.
On 2k or XP pro you want gpedit.msc but this will affect all users. XP home will be a reg hack or third party reg hack proggy.

I think this only works for XP but try control panel -> taskbar -> Advanced -> then in the start menu items scroll down till you find the run command and untick it. I couldn't see it in 2k but there must be a way but I cant be bothered looking.

herbs: winkey+r still brings the run command up that way .. what you propose only removes the item on the start menu.

you would definately have to use gpedit.msc to totally disable the run command. but, to bypass it, you can set the group policy to everyone but the admins group. so, when you log in as admin, run cmd. log in normally, no run cmd.
