    Hi all,

Only just discovered that my Pentium-M based HTPC is still pushing about 200W when is use.
And I think a lot of it is down to the graphics card.

So I am wondering is there any known low-power consumption graphics card on the market at the moment?
I am happy with 7300GT/7600GS kind of performance.

    Thanks.

    Muahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

Gfx cards get worse and worse per generation when it comes to power usage. your prob best off with a passive unit with no need for a external power requirements but as for energy efficient GPU's? no such thing.

I think you should stick with what you have, or try and downgrade.

I have already downgraded to a passive 6600GT with no need for an external power.
But need something better than that.

But for a HTPC? are you gaming on it? The next step would be a passive 7600Gs.

Get a ati2400 or a geforce 8500 for htpc they can offload a lot for h.264, mpeg 2 stuff for hdtv.

    Cheers guys.

7900GT seems like a good balance, but 50w is a bit more than I would like.
In an ideal world I would like close to 15w as possible on idle or light load, 35w on full load.
And yes sorry I forgot to mention, I do do a lot of HD decoding, but I don't game on it.

Will have a look at the 8500, never really paid much attention to it at all in the past.
Seems quite difficult to find a passive one that takes only one slot though.
How much power does it use?

    Thanks.

According to this [IMG] the 8500GT will use near 200w on load.

The Nvidia FX5200 apprently uses about 45w on load.

    Cheers for the chart.
Although it is a bit hard to tell how much power does the 8500GT actually use on its on from this chart.
Guessing 20w idle, 40w full load?

    Thanks.
