Hey everyone. I'm carrying out a poll for engineers re: Social Media and would appreciate your contribution. It will only take a minute of your time. Which social networking platforms do you use in your day to day work? Please place your vote at http://polldaddy.com/poll/5106012 Thanks!
I'm a bit confused myself, there are what appear to be legit posts made previously by this user, but at the same time this is a rather odd thread to be started. Any thoughts on what this is all about?
No I'm not a bot I work for an electronics marketing company and we're just conducting some research to find out which/if any social media platforms engineers use. Would be grateful for any contributions. Thanks!
Your poll has some massive limitations. There is no indication as to which type of engineer is your target audience, their qualifications, or their need for the social communities. Different fields, professions, and needs all will heavily influence the sites which are useful or how it is possible for your company to benefit them.
Hi feedayeen - thanks for your comments. You make some good points. I had intended to target this to electronics engineers (I should have specified that in my original post). Beyond that, we're just looking for a fairly general response to get a feel for social media engagement from the wider engineering community. Maybe we should conduct another, more specific poll after this one. Thanks again for your thoughts.
I don't use a 'social network platform'. I send e-mails and use the phone to communicate with companies. I especially like actually talking to someone - you can get more of a feeling for whatever you're trying to use.
Never use the social networks for serious things, because they are just that. Social. If I need something looked at I will phone the person, or go see that person face to face. Very few engineering problems can be discussed properly on myface or spacebook. EDIT: I am studying mechanical engineering.
I am the same as BKF, Serious business for me requires either an email or a phone call, not a Social networking site. Mechanical & Aerospace engineering Major here.
The same. Social networks are for playing about and something thats done after work. Proffesionalism requires professional practices.
I can agree with the previous few posts for the most part. I use a lot of forums for collaboration with regards personal projects, but when it comes to work I use professional methods of communication. I am studying mechanical engineering.
Not an engineer, an engineering student doing civil. Only use facebook, and hate it. But it is now almost a necessity.
Why haven't you included things like dsprelated.com? And newsgroups? And manufacturer's support forums? They're all social networks; they've just been around for much longer!
