So as the 560 came out, some tests made it look barely better than a gtx260. But recently i've seen some others that put it right up there with the 480. Now, i finally decided to sell the pair of 275s that i have, and replace them with a nice single card. But i'm still not sure what to think of the 560. What do you guys think? If it's not at least nearly as good as a 480 i COULD make the stretch for the 570, but that's outside of the price category that i can justify spending on a graphics card without having buyer's remorse.
I just got a 560 and I love it. Haven't really played any especially demanding games on it yet (91 FPS with everything maxed in BO?)
I know it probably doesn't apply to you in Hungary but the MSI 570 OC is only £239.99 on Scan's Today Only - it is normally £262. The point is that I reckon the 570's may come down a little bit in price, bringing them into your budget range. If this is the case I would say definitely go for a 570. I'm not sure a Tagan 480w PSU is up to it though...
The 460 was about as fast, if not faster and more optimized than a 280, a 560 is faster than this. for 1920x1080 It looks great.
I don't think you will see a massive jump from SLI 275s (are you using SLI?) to a 560. You are actually going a little backwards in CUDA cores, albeit taking advantage of a clock hike, some new GPU features, and no GPU SLI scaling losses ... 570 would be much more clear cut.
I'm actually only running one of the cards, i got the second one for potential SLI-age but since then i decided against it and i just want to get rid of them while they're still worth something. So anyways, more or less the same performance is fine by me, AFAIK two 275s give the 480 a run for its money so if these three setups are more or less equal, then i'm already convinced. According to Nvidia's site the 570 draws 220w tops, which is the same as a single 275 so i think i'll be good to go even with that. Thanks so far guys.
Max power consumption for GTX570 is 298W according to techpowerup: http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GeForce_GTX_570/25.html And I seriously doubt that Tagan 480W would deliver enough juice for the GTX570 with only 28A on the 12V rail(s): http://www.3dvelocity.com/reviews/tagan/tg480.htm
Would you like to share these tests (doesn't matter if they are hungarian, it's my language too) ? All tests i seen so far were exactly as you mentoined in "recently" part, next to 480, but i seen those reviews since release day.
The 560 Runs slower than the 480, although the changes in the GPU (e.g. Fp16 capability) show up in some games and the gap closes. It is still an awesome card for 1080 res and below in any case, and will obviously spank a single 275. I presume that you have seen the bit-tech review ...
I have a single 280 I'm looking to upgrade early May, I'm considering both 570 and 560 but tbh I'll probably just bite the bullet and get a 570, hopefully 590 will have an effect on the market and £240 will become more of a regular price
The tests that showed the 560 being similar to the 260 were only in old engine based games like COD, where any 4 year old card will run the game easy. In more demanding titles,, the 560 thrashes it. It's a great card, and if you grab a nice custom cooled one they'll overclock to GTX 570-esque speeds (albeit without the 1.3GB of memory).
They say it's not a real world scenario though, i'm not planning to stare at the furry donut. You're also looking at the wrong unit, mine has a staggering(!) 30 amps if i combine the rails. (okay okay it's getting old but it's been serving me faithfully since the P4 days, it's so hard to let go ) I don't think i can find that review anymore, i think it was linked here on bit-tech when 560 reviews first started showing up. Thanks Baz! I was looking at MSI's offering for both cards, that twin frozr cooler is sweet!
