    This is some really mad modding. This is one heck of a beautiful case. I definitely like the watercooling ideas.

    Haha yeah lets hope it works. I have leak tested but I havent pressure tested it yet, I'm betting that glue will hold though....

    Where can I get different size O-rings for the waterblocks I want to build?

    The copper arrived from Perth, Perth being that place on the otherside of middle earth, just a bit down under from down under and a little west from Brisbane. I would have walked but the postage service is pretty reliable so I stayed put.

    It’s not thick, only 2mm of give but it should be fine. I am not sure how wide most o-rings are and indeed, I haven’t a clue where to get o-ring. If I can get 1mm thick o-rings then thats all good, I can rest easy. If not...then I will have to find a way to glue copper and acrylic together.....

    Lets hope it doesn’t get to that.




    Anyhow,I am in design hell at this very moment.

    Motherboards do not have alot of clearance and the compression fittings are kinda...fat.

    1mm engraved triangles should create a fair bit of turbulence I am hoping. I’m no engineer and its probably the best I can do with 2mm thick copper.

    I don't think you'll be able to get a good seal with o-rings on 2mm copper.

    But that design looks very sound otherwise. I see pissed-off machinists in your future :D

    Maths problem....NEED HELP

    The situation: The cutting tool slopes at 30 degrees, material is 2mm thick.

    Okay, so you have triangles and they in an array, equal spaces apart.

    If you put too many triangles in you lose depth

    If you put too few traingles in you lose surface area.

    At what point do you maximise surface area? The answer needs to be in the amount of triangles.

    Er... 2MM copper isn't going to be sufficient, methinks - it's going to flex as you screw it to the motherboard and then it's going to leak. Right over your CPU. You simply cannot put an O-ring in something that thin and expect them to seal, especially when under stress from the mountings. My guess as to the normal depth of a copper block is more like 5MM minimum; can't you get a bigger bit of copper?

    Swiftech MCW-30s are 1mm copper and flat on the inside. For a chipset block, whatever you do will work just fine.

    I dont see why not. The o-rings on the bitspower fittings are 1.75mm when under no pressure so they should easily seal a .875mm thick cavity under pressure. The other .875mm goes into the acrylic thus creating the seal.

    The acrylic I will be using on top will be 10mm thick and hold the cavity of water. Although a soft metal, theres no way the 2mm will warp from two 3mm pressure cap screws.

    drill dimples, tap it... then solder it together. It won't leak if you do it right.

    What if instead of putting oring in the channel, I put just enough silicon?

    in any matter this wont work as you planned, 2mm copper will flex and youll get a "cave" under your chip/cpu/whatever, you may could use the 2mm copper as a base and then mill a delrin top which could hold the Oring and the retention module
