So I gather your side case reservoir will fill up from the top one hole and come out through two holes in the bottom with the water level about 1/2 way up your letters? Be very careful as to what you put in that loop as their have been big problems before with acrylic seams. Loving the work though. :dremel:

Yeah there are alot of problems, mainly with how acrylic expands due to the slightest amount of heat. Im glueing it hardcore though so it shouldnt leak!

I just watched all the videos and I was wondering what is the thickest piece of acrylic you can cut? Could you cut metal like aluminum or mild steel with that machine?

You wouldnt be able to cut any metals with that. MDF and acrylic is fine. It will slice through 6mm thick acrylic over 4 passes.

I always thought, and I think I read that you could cut metal with a laser

Metal cuts great with a laser, if you have the power...

I'm just going to guess that that machine isn't quite up to snuff to cut metal

I have only a 40w laser, you need at least 100w to cut 1mm thick alu and even then youd need a few passes to do so.

The laser is effective because its hot, it will cut through using the infrared heat created when the beam passes through the xenon, hydrogen and carbon dioxide gas in the tube. The amount of heat needed to slice through metal is a hell of a lot higher than the heat needed to cut through acrylic.

When cutting Aluminum or Brass a 500 watt average power (with 1500 watt peak power) machine is required. This is due to the reflectivity of the materials.

Ah you learn something new everyday. 500w is a massive laser lol, damn....

Anyhow im having an unbelievably hard time finding a strip heater for acrylic. Where would I go to get one and how much approximately would I walk away with one?

Subbed. I had no idea (tbh I've never looked into it because I was afraid of the number of 0's that I would find on the end) that you could get a CNC laser cutter so affordably. For cutting inlaid stuff in acrylic, a little CNC laser like this could be extremely useful to me. I watch ;)

Little question about the laser, does the laser tube itself get empty? Are there parts you need to replace while normally using it?

Yes actually it would, might look into that thing a bit more! Cheers

    Bit pricey....

    Nice, thanks for that!

The laser tube needs watercooling all through it and the tube only lasts around 1000 hours whilst in use (which is plenty)

    The update is here!

This is the radiator mount that I came up with, youll notice the barb side is a bit wider, this is to accomodate all the crazy wack barb placements the different radiator companies decide to come up with.

The computer will need to be able to hold quite a bit of weight so I double layered the radiator base for strength.

Not the biggest update, the rain is stopping me from doing quite a few things and the weather doesnt seem to be holding out, with any luck it will all clear by tomorrow!

So... How many watts does a laser need to qualify as a 'Death Ray'?
Nice radiator bracket. I like that you sunk the screws.

Not too sure but this ones pretty close, sure as hell can give you cancer so death ray would describe this thing pretty well, youd spend a fair bit of time counting the cancer radiation warnings all over the place.
