I've built up a rig with the specs below and everytime I try to boot from CD I get an error.

Ultimate Boot CD gives me "error booting from CD/DVD drive. Press any key to reboot".

Any version of Windows gives me "NTLDR is missing" or similar.

Presuming it was the CD/DVD drive I replaced it with another I had and when it didn't work, I went out and purchased a brand new BenQ DVD-RW and the errors still occur.

Anyone have any ideas how to get it to boot from CD?!?

    Specs:
    • AMD Duron 950MHz
    • Jetway 830CH MB
    • 2 x 512MB PC133
    • Enermax 620w Liberty PSU
    • BenQ DVD-RW

I've sorted it - turns out that the Jetway 830CH wont boot to a CD/DVD unless there's a HDD attached. I feel a bit stupid for not trying that in the first place, but I only wanted to run memtest for now.

    that seems pretty strange..

or maybe you have the cdrom set as a slave and it doenst like not having a master?
maybe try having the cdrom on CS (cable select) and the hdd on master

Nope. The DVD-RW was set as Master on IDE channel 2. I eventually stuck a HDD onto channel 1 which allowed it to boot from CD. It's something I've never come across before, but it appears that the motherboard requires a HDD present prior to booting from CD.
