I have an motherboard Asus P5N_E SLI and I tried to install it with an Intel E6300 2.8 GHz 45nm but when I start the computer it doesn`t POST anything at all. I bought an PC Analyzer PCI card and i started again the pc but the code from the card is 18 and it says:"Force an Interrupt and Verify the interrupt Occured". To this error corresponds "18 Detect CPU and Cache, (initialize L1 Cache?)" I went on Google and I tried to find out about this error and the error is "18 Test 8259 functionality: force an interrupt and verify the interrupt occurred. " As much I read is about the processor, is it possible the MB is not compatible with the processor or the processor is not good? P.S. Sorry for the horrible story and my writing.
Was the system working before hand? Also which e6300 is it? There are 2.... one at 1.86ghz and one and 2.8. bios details from asus.... Core 2 Duo E6300 (1.86GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.B2) bios: 0202 Pentium Dual Core E6300 (2.8GHz,1066FSB,L2:2MB,rev.R0) bios: 1301 So while it may say support the e6300, it might not support the Other e6300. You might need an older CPU to update the bios. Then it may work with the newer one.
I reset the BIOS few times all failed but I think I will have to try with another processor to update the bios and to see after that if it will work. My processor is E6300@2.80Ghz;FSB 1066; L2 Cache 2MB; Core 45nm. The version of the Bios I do know it because I cannot make the MB to start even to see the BIOS. Looks I have to update the BIOS to to 1301 because the other is not supported.
I do not have nostalgia for old components but I have it and I can use the MB because is better than one which I have it in another PC.
Are you sure, an E7400 has a clock of 2.8ghz, I cba to search it but i cant see intel bringing out 2 E6300 with the same fsb and an massive difference in multiplier
AFAIK I had the same problem with the P5N-e When the quads came out it wouldn't even post without the bios flash. As the 2.8GHz e6300 is a new chip, the old bios wont know what it is and has a dickie fit. If you can get an older 775 CPU in the motherbaord (q6600 should do) to flash the bios, it should then work OK. Download the latest bios to a USB drive and extract it. (comes in a zip IRC, whcih cant be read) and use the EZ flash (read the manual) and that should do the trick
I might not be sure, but intel is http://processorfinder.intel.com/List.aspx?ParentRadio=All&ProcFam=0&SearchKey=e6300& SLGU9 2.80 GHz E6300 2 1066 MHz 45 nm R0 2 MB LGA775 06 Intel® Pentium® Processor for Desktop SL9SA 1.86 GHz E6300 2 1066 MHz 65 nm B2 2 MB LGA775 06 Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor SL9TA 1.86 GHz E6300 2 1066 MHz 65 nm L2 2 MB LGA775 06 Intel® Core™2 Duo Desktop Processor http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLGU9 http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SL9SA
Yep I sorted out the problem it was the BIOS version. the morons sent me the MB with the 0.703 Bios version. I managed to update with an old processor and it starts now. thank you for help. i will come with updates.
