    Thanks! :thumb:

Well, across the social media board I'm now at 1 for the jet engine design, 2 for the rings.

Fun project. Tough call on your fan grills both look great but I am not sure how well they match your case theme (just my 2₵).

I have struggled a bit with that as well. The team however does have 14 championships and I'm thinking of revising the ringed version a tad to employ '14 rings' in the model.

Big thing that hit me this week is that because of the 3D printer I can put together some fan grills that aren't just flat. So right now I'm just playing with the concept. :)

I like the finned design just in general. But they both feel too tall, especially compared to their bases. And the ring design kind looks like an egg from the side. What about varying the height of each individual ring and using the different heights to give you a stepped effect or even a random height pattern?

Here's a question if you do a 14 ring version, can you print the interior with yellow, and then print a mounting ring out of green around it. Even if it's two pieces that would be pretty trick!

Very interesting. I was modifying the design to the '14 rings' concept. I was going a little less tall as well. I think with the first go at it I just wanted to embrace the idea that it didn't have to be flat. I like your idea though of the 2 colors. :thumb: I quickly tweaked the colors and got this:

Did a quick test print overnight. Still much cleanup to do on the bridging material underneath and such, but I'm liking where this is going.

    Thanks!

Testing out a 2 color print today. We'll see how that looks.

Two-tone print. Quite happy with the result.

Damn 3D printers make quick work of that. I did have the thought that if you wanted a non flat grill maybe half a football, but you already got your rings. The green and gold grill looks great. But, the smart ass in me can't resist to point out that the championship rings tend to be squarish.

Also top marks to InsolentGnome for suggestion gold since team colours are green and gold. Not sure if that is why you suggested it or if you were thinking gold as in jewellery.

Yeah, the '14 rings' connection allows me to put something abstract in that still kinda makes sense. :naughty:

    Well player sir.

Very excited about this week's arrival. Huge thank to to Avexir for their contribution to the project.

So if you're not familiar with Avexir's Raiden RAM, essentially it's a DDR4 memory module with a tiny lightning tube on top. You can check it out here.

So clearly blue isn't going to fly in the Eskimod, so I have a couple of options for turning that blue into something that will match the project. Transparent paint or color gel.

Now the transparent paint worked pretty darn well with my Jetflo fans last year.

But I think I'm going to start with the less permanent solution: lighting color gels. These gels are typically used with hot lights and should hold up fine in the case. We'll see... oh, we'll see.

I started with paper to make a template.

Traced it so that I could cut the gel on it.

Applied the gel and cut out the template.

Now the gel didn't want to fold around the ram very well so I taped it to the edge of the 3D printer bed sheet of glass, then used a heat gun.

And voila! It holds it's shape.

Some super thin double sided tape from the Downtown project.

Fits fairly nicely up the side of each plasma tube.

And there we go! Instant yellow color filter.

Um... now I just need to nail down a stinkin motherboard so I can test it out. Dang...

On the upside a little ray of sunshine from Minnesota today. Case feet from MnpcTech.com have arrived. You can check those out here. Nice and sturdy. Should look fantastic on the project.

Big thanks to Bill Owen and MnpcTech for their contribution to the project.
