hi everybody! i'm looking for any etching tips that you may have. i would've but its broke i myself have very little cash, and a good dremel [she's a beauty, and yes, i've heard about how dremels are not always as great as they are made out to be]. anyways, due to my inability to buy an air compressor [unless the one used to add air to tires can be used] i am planning on doing an etch with my dremel, and not a sand blaster [though that would be pretty niiiice]. what tips do you have for dremel etching [if sandblasting type stuff is cheap to rent, let me know]. what blades should be used? etc etc everything is appreciated! thanks in advance
I used an diamond tipped pen to do my etching seen here. The wife picked it up at the local crafts store.
Look through this project log for some tips on etching. The author, [WP@]WOLVERINE, states somewhere in there the kinds of bits he used in his dremel. Just take your time with it and make sure you got your design layed out nice and clear. I'm sure there are a few other logs around that could give some insight on other ways to do your etching... Just look around and see what you can find..
When I've done etching I used the etching bit that came with my dremel clone. It worked well enough I think. You might want to try using a tile cutter attachement. That will give you an exact thickness of your cut.
