As in the title I purchase an ETEN 8 Port managed Switch and configured it over the weekend.

At first i thought i was doing something wrong as it would not respond via network cable in port 1. But it worked in Port 2-8 fine.So i thought maybe Port 1 has some kind of default configuration.

Went thought the manual no mention checked setting for ports nothing i can suspect to stop it or even not show lights on the switch of activity tried other cables etc.

All ports work except one so i beleive i have a faulty port, No lights come on or anything.

Will post Pictures of Interface when i get home.

    I would send it back.
By default there should be no configuration so should be good to plug and play right out of the box.

Even if there was the port should light up.

Might be wroth putting a post in on the Scan section and see what they say.

    Sounds like a faulty port.

Switches should by default have every port active.

Cheers guys contacted the manufacturer aswell and they said there should be no reason either so RMA 'ed it for a refund.

Can anyone suggest to me a 8-16 port Giga Managed switch mainly for VLAN and LAG uses.

Try the Netgear GS108e. They can be found for around £50 and have a configuration utility which allows you to set VLANs and aggregation, and are 8 port gigabit. I've got the 5 port one. Nifty stuff.
