Howdy Bit Peeps! I've noticed lately that my Ethernet send speeds are lower than they used to be when uploading to my server. I used to be able to saturate the network, but now they're around 60MB/sec. RX speed is still fast and maxes out the Ethernet connection. Jumbo frames are enabled on both my desktop and the server. Nothing's changes really. I've not changed anything on the router. Any ideas as to what I can check? RX and TX buffer size is set to max on both desktop and server. The write speeds to the RAID when benchmarks are run on the server result in 380MB/sec, so it's not write speeds to the RAID itself... it's only over the network.
I had a similar problem with UnRAID, once the cache drives hit capacity the write speed dropped to half. I don't have a solution, I'm afraid - it was during the trial period so I ditched it.
I'm using a fairly good RAID card... it's an LSI 9260-8i, and has never given me a problem in all the years I've used it.
What's puzzling me, is that if I can download from my server at 120MB/Sec, it follows that in order to do that, my server must be SENDING at 120MB/sec... so when I actually go to my server, and send the same file from there, it can only achieve 60MB/sec? Likewise, If I log onto the server, and download a file from my desktop, it comes in at 120MB/sec.... but if I send the same file from my desktop, again it's 60MB/sec. The hard drives in both instances are capable of speeds well in excess of this, so drives are not the limiting factor... it's Ethernet.
Here's ipconfig if it helps anyone.... ------------------------ Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . : Core-i7-3960X Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . : Hybrid IP Routing Enabled. . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy Enabled. . . . . . . . : No Unknown adapter NordLynx: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : NordLynx Tunnel Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes Ethernet adapter Ethernet: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 54-04-A6-4A-7C-4F DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : No Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.2(Preferred) Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 1.1.1.1 1.0.0.1 NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled Ethernet adapter Ethernet 2: Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : Description . . . . . . . . . . . : TAP-NordVPN Windows Adapter V9 Physical Address. . . . . . . . . : 00-FF-90-41-0E-E9 DHCP Enabled. . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration Enabled . . . . : Yes
