1200xp aint bad in 4.5 hours considering it takes me an hour as strogg constructor to amass 350-ish xp per campaign

Steve, 1200 in 4.5hrs is about 350 per campaign.

Iwog, 350 per campaign is like, er... 350 per campaign

I seriously dont think I've played in too many campaigns where anyone has got more than 350xp. The leaders seem to typically have 250-300xp. That said, I've only ever seen one other person start a fireteam; no-one seems to want to join a fireteam, and even when they do, there is certainly no sign of cooperation.

Myself, as with BF2, I seem torn between earning points and working for the team. I hoped that the game might succeed in really fostering team play but so far it seems the bunny-hopping lone wolves are still in charge. :sigh:

I'll give it another few weeks until my Orange Box arrives, but I think it will soon be on Ebay. It's not bad; it's just not good either.

a campaign is a round of 3 matches and then your xp gets reset at the end. Which typically take 60-90 min for stogg defenders to win depending on what the server's round timer is. And i wish the god dam postal strike would end so i could get my game and web cam from play.com :miffed:

I tend not to join the fire teams, although i've only seen a couple started. But i also tend to hang back at the objective and defend: deploy turrets, take out infiltrators, make sure to replace my mines and just try to make sure that no one gets to start hacking et al. I don't suppose i'll ever get any achievement shields doing that though. I think we need to get all the bit types together on one server and try to work as a team. Part of the problem is that the games is quite new so people are tyring to get achivements and one ups manship instead of settling down and playing the game, take BF2, the people who only played as pilots rarely got many points but played for the enjoyment and the benefit of the team.

using mines is one of the easiest ways to get kills and xp. Plus if you make sure all deployables are repaid that helps alot. From what you've said you were playing your class correctly, as an engineer/constructor you job is to hang back a bit maintain the base, you'd be amazed how many just run past disabled deployables. I mean if every person on your team who could deploy something did it makes the game sooo much easier especially if you have 3/4 radars for the 3/4 snipers/infiltrators there are.

My first and only achievement so far is the 1st Engineers award. I can't seem to get much experience on some of the other roles, and this is because too many people are Covert Ops and Soldiers.

You will rarely see a medic - unlike BF2 where you would individually have to wait 15s to re-spawn, in ETQW you potentially have to wait 25s and often the spawn point is way back from the action, so you can spend a lot of time out of circulation - so the medic role is very valuable in ETQW.

Plenty of people play as Engineer some of the time, and many of those do use deployables, but too many just run off to the front-line. When I stay back as an engineer, I seem to be the only one trying to keep all the deployables running.

Field Ops is a valuable role but on many maps the role is over-looked. Apart from providing Arty - which can be difficult on some 'mobile' maps - these guys provide Ammo. I dont know how many times I've died because I ran out of ammo.

Another complaint I have of the game is that the manual is very basic. There is so much more to the game than the paper manual, and even the advanced guide, let on. It's good that people aren't spoon-fed everything, but I'm sure that some people play so poorly because they dont know what they are doing.

I do like the fact that generally vehicles arent over-powered, like in so many other games. I think in general, the game balances the classes and vehicles well; the only reason people tend to gravitate to one or more classes is because of ignorance.

The medic becomes even more valuable when you realise they can replace the Field Ops ammo role, all the need to do is call in a supply crate at a key defensible location and you will have ammo and health for ages to come.

Having said that field ops on both sides do bring interesting abilities to the field. A portable shield on a destroyer can be useful to fend of a couple of rockets/tank shells from the GDF whilst you get in position. And watching a coordinated GDF scatter and fall apart under the slow advance of a violater beam makes me chuckle with glee.

The medic/technicians role seems to be overlooked by many players. It's a very unselfish role. It becomes increasingly annoying when someones barking over the comms "I need a medic" and they tap out when your just about to revive them. Happens more times than I care to remember. :wallbash:

I'd be up for a bit tech 'clan' or something. I tend to play as a medic, tis rather annoying when people tap out just before you revive them and you get shot just to boot and thus miss the respawn and end up sitting for 30 seconds... >_<

Had a decent game last night. 220xp in a full campaign... that was 2nd place. Dunno how you guys are getting 350+ xp per hour/campaign...

Also stumbled across two fires teams on my travels - woo yay. Ok there was no cooperation and one squad leader seemed to be stuck on 'Plant Mines', but it's a start.

Another first was that I was able to hack the portal to allow the MCP to pass through. Entirely due to the fact that I had two guys watching my back the whole time - Teamwork - who'd have guessed, eh? lol

Anyone else think that some of the commands are not very responsive? I find myself pressing G to enter a vehicle, nothing happens to a press again, then the system catches up and moves me in then out of the vehicle. Also find that you have to be in a specific location to enter many vehicles - can't just any part of it an press G...

Pre-ordered it ages ago and picked it up the day it came out. Though, I have to wait until after exams so I can reformat my computer and install up-to-date ATI drivers; for some reason I can't install anything higher than 7.5 or 7.6.

I think that was a rounding error, its more like 250-300 per hour. I tried last night playing as a medic but my team were a bit pish so i was overworked, we were strogg on the last map in the Europe campaign, instead of pressing in to take out the generator we ended up stuck in our base being picked off by snipers.. very frustrating! But back to the xp, as a medic/attacking on a loosing side i only managed about 100xp for the campaign as a constructor/defending on a winning side i managed over 300 and got a level 4 achievement. I think its much easier to get the xp as a constructor than a medic or a soldier since you rely on saving/killing where as the others have deplolyables which can bulk up the xp points quickly. I think to get the xp you have to pick your support class carefully, you'll not get as much xp with a medic on a defending team since the action will be flowing back towards your spawn point so people just tap out but as a constructor your deployable starts taking folk out and getting you points. On an attacking side your (constructor) deployable shouldn't see a lot of work but your team mates should be waiting on a revive or using your spawn hosts. I think the only change in the medic is the dish one where the strogg are defending in doors so its useful to be able to spawn guys very close to the action but there are less deployables doing the work.
