Yeah but remember that different races prefer different primary weapons, and different primary tanking methods.

Unless they changed that since I used to play.

Eg amarr lasers and armor tanking, caldari, missiles mostly with some railguns and shield tanking, minmatar projectiles and missiles and shield or armor tanking depending on the ship, gallente drones and blasters and usually armor tanking.

I was minmatar and so I maxed out projectiles to t2 and shield and armor tanking both to t2, just for good measure :D

Dunno wtf Veles is talking about... The races are still VERY different...

Amarr for lasers / armor tank, gallente for blasters and drones / armor tank, minnie for projectiles and missiles / shield and armor tanking, caldari for missiles and blasters / shield tanking.

I'm a fan of most of the races, with the exception of Caldari. They don't do near as much damage as any other race. Those that want to argue with me on it, we can take it in-game ;).

Do what I posted a few pages back. Start a char, and immediately get the learning skills, and train them up to level 5. You should have JUST enough training bonus to train them all up, and then go from there.

Certificates helped out a bit for plans... You can now plan for a ship based on the certificates for it.

While this is very true, remember we were talking about character creation here, there's nothing stopping you making a Caldari character and then learning to fly Amarr, or like my character, Gallente. No penalties in learning time or anything, the only thing is you're not using caldari related skills when in a ship of a different race. So if you decide to make a Caldari who pilots Amarr, you'd be about an hour or so behind a pilot who started as an Amarr character. It's not really much of a problem.

So when creating a character, just pick a race you think looks and sounds the coolest, it doesn't matter anymore now everyone's stats start the same now.

picked up my first drake yesturday so i can start lvl3 missions, thing is amasing the amount of pewpew i can put down onto a target is pretty good. i just need to up my shield tanking skills as 31 rat battlecruisers managed to scratch the paint yesturday. I better insure it actually :p

Its quite a step-up from my stealth bomber / caracal set-up however it feels like a massive fat target which takes years to re-align to anything so i have to plan my escapes in advance.

anyone else watch the alliance tornament at the weekend? i noticed manticore prices went up during the tornament for some reason :p

Okay, you've redeemed yourself. I will 100% agree with what you put here. You only start out with a couple hundred thousand skill points, so switching to another race from the start won't put you far behind at all.

Next time make it more clear would ya? :D

The massive fat target part is EXACTLY why I hate flying BS's. They're fat, slow, and easy targets. I do like flying BC sized ships though... They're still pretty agile for their size, and they do some damn good damage. Didn't watch the alliance tourni, though I think I'll check out youtube to recap. :D

Does anyone know of a friendly corp that’s taking in players?

I played Eve from launch for a couple of years and still think it’s the best game I ever played. I ran my own little corp for a while, then got quite high up in another, much larger corp, and enjoyed all the politics.

Time constraints caused me to leave (my daughter was born) but I quite fancy playing again but on a far more casual basis; exploring and maybe trading again (made a fortune from trading the first time round).

I got a 5 day pass email today to reinstate my old character and in the past where I’ve had free days and tried it I could never find a decent corp to join, and with so much changing, it was hard to get back into.

Anyway if anyone can give me the heads up for a good corp that will accept a casual, friendly player I would appreciate it.

Our corp is friendly, and very casual. Look up [TARDZ] or Xen0phobiak ingame if you wanna chat.
