Just saw this on Aria: https://www.aria.co.uk/SuperSpecial...TX460!+FASTER+THAN+GTX+580!]+?productId=44719 Wondered what people thought of it?
Yeah I've never seen this card before, just read a review on it, saying you can buy 2 for cheaper and clock them yourself.
Your system gets the score, not just your GPU. I got 5819 when I had a GTX470 in my system and CPU @ 4.3GHz, so Aria's benchmark result isn't really anything to go by.
The only instance I could ever see single card sli/crossfire for is in motherboards that have only 1 16x slot, like mitx. Otherwise it seems you have always been able to buy 2 regular gpu for less cost than these type of dual gpu cards. The benchmark thing is amusing as well. What is 200 odd points really mean anyway? The gtx580 would still be a better choice as it is near enough the same performance in a single card instead of relying on sli which isn't a guarantee in every title.
i thought 3dmark 11 was just tested on the gpu? as my old phenom system with the same card performed the same?
It tests the GPU, but if your CPU (and to a lesser extent RAM) are bottlenecking it then you will get a lower score. For every GPU you benchmark, at some point there is a floor with how low your CPU can go before it effects your results. If i put a 580 in my e-350 system i would get a lower score than if i put it in my 2500k system.
It's this card: http://www.evga.com/articles/00613/. SLI on a stick, should probably be called a GTX 460 GX2... Review: http://pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Cards/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-460-2WIN-2GB-dual-GPU-Graphics-Card-Review I still reckon you are better off with a GTX 580. For £20 more you can get the excellent Asus GTX 580 DirectCU II on Scan's today Only page this weekend. It is not as of you would notice any difference between either of them in any games.
hooray for bs marketing! I'm so glad I do marketing now at work. I can lie all the time, but it's alright because the manufacturer told me too!!! It has an ingress rating of 56 I swear!!! I know cause it says on the box
You dont need to be a marketing genius to see this is just SLI on a stick and not worth the extra hassle it brings to the table.
There were a few threads on this card when it came out. Searching EVGA GTX 460 2Win would probably return it.
I run SLI'd 460 and before that I had the 9800 GX2 (SLI in a box) and I have never had a problem with either.
