I just got an EVGA Powerlink, I had no idea how it worked, I just presumed there'd be tightly packed cables in there, but it's just 2 metal bars essentially:

It says in the instructions it's rated up to 300W (same as 2x 8pin pci-e power rating), I was going to use it with a 5700 and maybe have a play with the power tables, but having seen the insides of it, now I'm not so sure.

Anyone have one and have any experience with reasonably hefty overclocking on it?

Those headers are only 12v, GND and sense pins, so makes sense that its just 2 railss, would be silly to do it any other way. Those busbars will be far better than cables, far lower resisstance. So if its rated to 300w then I'd trust it!

No they come off on purpose so you can change between 8+8 or 8+6.
Ah right. I imagine it's likely over engineered to cover their asses too.
    Excellent. Cheers VT!

It'll be cost, 2 strips of Alu is far cheaper (at scale) than copper wiring. Then its also easier to design, easier to assemble, less risk of failure, etc, etc :)
