I realise most people who care would change the cooling on the northbridge but a fan sucking air from the top of the GFX card? ...

Better than blowing onto a hot graphics core :p or onto hot memory.

If I upgrade.. I'm getting an eVGA board. I'd love to see benchmarks once more "extreme OC" boards come out

For me, the tech support alone would be enough for me to buy EVGA's products. I've RMAd quite a few GPUs and motherboards to them and each time I've been pleased with the results. One of the best companies for sure.

I'd be more impressed with the company if i didn't have to send stuff back to them for replacement.

All, except for one instance, it was some sort of upgrade deal. EVGA offered to replace my 680i so that it would support quad cores correctly and then again to support Penryns (upgrading it to a 780i), I was impressed with at. But you're correct. However, I also find that many times it almost unavoidable. The one time that I sent in my motherboard because of technical problems, shorted out when the front-side audio was plugged in (took me a while to realize that). And its always very prompt.

I like DFI heatpipe system on their latest x58 you can take off just the fins part of the northbridge portion of the heatpipe system and then slap a waterblock on top of it, now thats what more companies should do.
