Thanks guys ------ Wooohoo I've overcome the blight that is man flu! so much so I even made a start on the SSD mounting system We begin this tale with some 3/4" aluminium channel cut to size and then some 45 degree angle cuts made and filed. In the rough position, they will be set in place using some epoxy or what ever metal to metal glue the hardware store sells Time to move onto the plexi. Using the same 3mm fluorescent blue stuff I marked out and began to cut. A cable routing recess was marked and cut using my trusty long necked fret saw. Sanding was done using some strips of 600 and then 800 wet and dry. Hmm may go to 1000 before I can call it finished. Film off for a test run And just a few shots to show how it sits in place. Bear in mind its being held together by masking tape so nothings straight And finally another short terribad video of the work done today Well that's it for today.. bring on the weekend!
'Editor22 has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled' and what a nice little update it was. Sweet job!
Your plexi cut is really clean. But I'm not fond of the SSD windows tou see more plastiv and paper than circuit or metal godnes. Just my two cent's.
lol I'm trying to keep that message popping up Thanks Angel I totally see where your coming from mate and in the images for the drive there's no stickers or plastic (see below) once the novelty has worn off and I've made sure its all working i'll be voiding the warranty with the aim of increasing ascetics.
Very nice job on the SSD mount and window. It's almost a carbon copy of an SSD mount in a case I was just tweaking in SolidWorks yesterday
Great minds think alike at least I can tell you it works really well and should look fantastic cant wait to see what yours looks like dude
I'm an AMD fanboy so I'd much rather you show off the specs of the drive than the shiny silver Intel logo side. My 2 cents
Think You will like the update then I'm hoping to buff it up to a near mirror finish but I don't dare void the warranty until its been running for a bit oooo I'm going to bear that in mind for when I'm not to scared to even touch the thing. Has it even been done before?!? trust you to put some crazy idea in my head cheaps ---------- Time to get this SSD tray finished.. well near enough for now The day started off with making an SSD mounting template and printing it off. it was then taped to the tray and I made a start on drilling. The holes were then joined up. Had a test fit and measured out the mounting holes to secure the tray to the runners. And the finished runners Next I tapped the plexi for M4 Time to put it all together And how it sits in place at the top of the drive area. Just enough time to check how it looks with a couple of 4" cathodes behind it. Added another video..... I'd had a few beers by this time so be warned theres some mumbeling and some plain weird sentences
Only one word amazing. It is just fitting perfecctly. And +1 with Cheapskate. That would be even more amazing.
Man, That is beautiful! Really love the blue plex glow. making nice with the hand tools as well! really sweet update. Thanks
