Tis that time of the year again folks! Exam Season.. This year I'm taking: Physics AS Biology AS Design & Technology AS M1 C1 C2 Had my first exam this morning aswell
Core 1 and 2. What used to be Pure 1 and 2 (pretty much, anyway). I've got uni finals coming up... Woo! Particle physics, solid state physics, stars & stellar evolution, general physics paper () and optoelectronics. On top of that I've got my Dissertation viva this week, and a programming project to start...
I'm taking: English GCSE (lit. and lang.) Maths GCSE Maths C1 AS Physics GCSE Chemistry GCSE Biology GCSE Geography GCSE Design and Technology GCSE My first exam is on the 18th May so I have got a few weeks to get ready!
In order to finish my final year I have the following exams starting next Tuesday: ICT service management Advanced Networks Operating systems I also have my final year project to finish off before the end of July due to getting an extension for having bad wrists
I have: Physics AS Product Design AS Critical Thinking AS And between Maths and Further Maths... C2 M1 FP1 D1 M2 (did C1 earlier this year) Good luck everyone
how can you examine design? unless its specifics on shape and colour theory otherwise its just purely flair. apologies for sounding negative, i am just very curious as to what you are studying.
Ugh. 27-29th May, I've got Advanced Machine Learning, Intelligent Agents, and Semantic Web Technologies exams. Boo.
I imagine it's examined based on how it meets the requirements of the hypothetical 'customer', or how well 'rules of thumb' are followed. Perhaps even the design process, depending on the DT section. Re-thinking: DT is a general term in the UK for the exams I think he's taking, it depends on what he's studying. Graphic design, Woodworking, metal working, ICT etc. At least, that's how it was when I took a DT exam a few years back.
Nah, it's fine The actual exam is focused on what materials/finishes would be suitable for a product and production methods, that sort of thing. There is also a project, a product evaluation and a work folder that also go towards the final mark. The project was a to design a lamp based on the work of a chosen architect (such as Frank Lloyd Wright) and the work folder is made up of the sheets designing the lamp, talking about the production of the lamp and evaluating the lamp. The product evaluation was looking a product and talking about the factors that effected it's design and comparing it to similar products. Overall the course seems aimed at giving us a better understanding of why products are designed rather than just "to make them look pretty" and to improve drawing and presentation skills. Actually no, it's what I said - product design - it's a combination of resistant materials and graphics, I did both last year in my GCSE's
Transmission lines Control systems Digital system design II Communication principles Not too heavy, just how I like my exams.
Finals here too, with a thesis/portfolio-project due at the same time. Gah! Music Programming (C++, Synthesis) Musical Signal Processing (DSP, FX, Synthesis) Philosophical Aesthetics Political Philosophy Metaphysics Music Technology and Philosophy. Logical combination Cheesecake!
