Hi all, How do I do the graph below in Office 07? I can't for the life of me work out if it's even possible to do in 07, but I know I used to be able to. The GPU DeltaT needs to be the X-axis label The CPU DeltaT needs to be the Y-axis label Idle needs to be the Title The case names need to be the individual dots. We are trying to correlate CPU and GPU temperatures to cases to see which is better.
Is it just the labels for the data set and axis you cant do, as you appear to have plotted the graph fine. Like so?
Yea, I cant work out where the options are to do ^^ this The plot is fine, I just cant tweak it. Right click has no options that are relevant.
With the labels, you just need to change the format of the graph: Select the graph -> Design -> Chart Layouts, then you can edit them For the series I found the best way was to add the data in (it plots with two points for each) then click and drag the Purple & Blue boxes (X/Y) on the spreadsheet
never used the new office (cos im old skool ) but do you not have a source data button: ...with this is takes you straight to were you declare your series (with x/y axis data and legend)...surely ms has not made drawing graphs more difficult??
Oh yes they did... I think you should take a look at the "Select Data" button under the first extra menu that appears when you select the graph (sorry, Dutch version over here).
MS screwed up Excel Royally. I can't find a thing in 2007, and I hate the ribbon bar at the top. They have made one major improvement though, the removal of the 65,000 row limit. We still use 2003 at work, so that's what I'm more used to, I guess given time I'd get used to 2007.
Don't get me wrong - I love the ribbon and can't live without 07 now. Anything else is backwards. HOWEVER, they've hidden features in 07 that used to be in 03 Felix - that's what I'm looking for, and it's just not there
Right, I've got that far. The format tab at the top, then several other clicks to get this below. Now to just assign the case names instead of the values (why TF would you want values and not telling them what they are? - yes, it's 12 and I can see it's 12 BECAUSE THAT's WHAT THE X-AXIS IS FOR!!)
Not sure if you've fixed this, but i'll give it a go anyway... first right click graph area, and click 'select data' click the 'add' button and... add the series of name (or case), x and y data click OK, then add, repeat the same for however many cases once you're done, go to 'layout' tab, and there should be all the formating options for any x, y or chart labels you wish to add/edit. and that should be it really... it seems like a roundabout way (20 times for 20 cases....?) but that's how i got it to work...you may find a quicker way. Hope that helped! btw, image tags dont seem to be working, so added them as links. edit: fixed image links
