I was wondering if it would be possible to hook to the poewr lead on a pump for a watercooling rig up to the 3pin connector that the power lead plugs into at the back of the PC, to reduce the number of plug sockets needed.
You want to connect the wire from the Pump to the inside of the mains connector in the PSU? Thats easy, just run the cord into the psu and solder the wires to the connector. Just watch where you run the wire, could lead to a 60hz buzz in the speakers or other things, and remember to tin the wires first.
Because the 115v 60hz AC would emit a bit of 60 hz rf/emi and some circuits would pick up the frequency, But if you route it away from things like your pci cards, and hdds, you should be fine. If you are really paraniod, or an audiophile, take some metal tape and tape the cord to the case, and make sure that the metal of the tape is grounded. The only thing causing it is having the high voltage cord in the case, not because you have it hooked up to the back of the plug. If you are running it now and there is no problem, then dont worry about it.
actually, his buzz is 50hz (hes in the UK ) Yeah, you can do that, to avoid 50hz hum run the cable perpendicular to any audio cables. perhaps outside the case? Thanks
err, in that case, ill just route the pump cable out of the case, dont want no 50hz buzz, 51hz on the other hand....
