Does anyone have any hands on experience with ExpressCard/34 adaptors? Specifically eSata and USB 3.0.

I'm looking at fast external solutions for an editing scratch drive for a replacement MBP; the original one being damaged in a car accident.

Is it for a new MBP?
I think they dropped the expresscard slot in the new model.

They're only on the 17" one IIRC

I am replacing a 17" MBP. I haven't completely decided between a new 17" or a 15". Hence the look at peripherals and upgrades.

The big question is a smaller, faster, pimped 15" plus an external monitor or a slower 17" with a faster external scratch and another monitor later.

Right now I edit through a FW800 connection to a multi terabyte box. Would a 15" with an SSD and the FW800 make more sense then a 17" with an HDD and a eSATA/USB 3.0 external scratch through a ExpressCard bus?

Which is why I was asking if anyone uses ExpressCards and how they got on with them.
