Has anyone ever used an external battery to increase the runtime of a lappy or netbook, Ive found THIS 13200mAh which is twice as big as the biggest internal battery available for the aspire one! Ive never used one of these though are they any good? Im guessing it should be good for 10+ hours.

So is it worth a shot or is it a nice idea that fails in reality?

I am also interested in these, next year i am back at uni (on work placement at the mo) and will be traveling into the city for the whole day as i am approx 5 mile or so from it. So having a spare battery pack for my laptop would be ideal for the whole day!

Also considering a moblie boardband options, soon to have a hunt for the best deals.

13200mAH looks impressive. I think it's new in the market.

I use another external battery (AC Ryan's since I do work here), 6000mAH. With my tabletpc TC1100, I get about 5~6 hour extra on top of 3+ hour from the internal battery (3600mAH). For me, it works fantastic for 2 situations... visiting exhibitions where it would be a whole day on the fairgrounds with meetings, and in europe-asia flights which take 12 hours - takeoff, meals, drinks/relax, computer, computer, computer, computer, meals, land, just adds up nicely. Other than these 2 situations, I've always carried the external battery around but not actually used it. I had the idea that I would use it when spending a day out in the city but in reality I don't spend a day out in the city AND behind the computer - that I do at home/work :). So for this part was not real. But for the 2 situations I use it for, it's worth every penny and more.

I also do use the USB power output sometimes to charge my mobile phone. It runs out of juice when I forget to hangup the data connection, but thats not too often, twice. Just an extra bonus.
