A quick question to see if anyone has experience setting custom resolutions on external displays for Macs. I'm the owner of a Dell S1909WN, and this isn't the first time I've had problems putting this finicky resolution on the monitor, but it works fine as a secondary display on my own rig.

Now, though, I want it to go on the road with my MacBook, and that's less fun. The monitor's native is 1366x768, and it has only VGA input. My GTX-280 will output that just fine via a converter, but the closest the Mac seems to get (via MiniDP-VGA) is 1360x768, which doesn't sound much but is enough to unfocus the entire screen. There are several programs (I've got the trial of DisplayConfigX, which is a bit like PowerStrip) that say this is possible, but I've no experience of them and no real ideas of what to do. The MB doesn't offer the resolution - does anyone know how the programs are supposed to work? Or done this before?

    Thanks in advance!

Use the nVidia control panel, and adjust the resolution?

Nah, I want to use the external display on the MacBook, which doesn't have NVIDIA control panel (at least, not under OSX it doesn't).

Nobody know how Powerstrip and the like are supposed to work?
