Hello all, I just completed my first mod and I think it may be an origional twist to an old Idea. I am fortunate to have a collermaster ATC 210 the one with the perspects door. The case comes with two exhast fans which I replaced with two papst fans, but the system was still quite loud so my first thought was to make a 7V/off/12V fan bus but there isnt enough clearence on my door for the toggle switches so I have put it all in a nice aluminium box. I have also included a volume controle in there too as the soundblaster live has a volume controle header on there. Is this an origional mod or have I got all excited for nothing. I would be interested to hear how others have done a simular mod. Thanks has to go out to bit-tech for the diagrams to both mods.
been thinking out doing that, but you beat me to it. guess ill just have to throw a VFd in mine. got any pics of it?
Yeah, it's a great thought and I spent quite a bit of time towards that result - conceptually I wanted an LCD connected through the existing parallel port and then 4 voltage regulator fan controls, light controls, remote power & reset, CD eject, HDD/FDD activity lights etc running through 2 extra DB25 ports out to a hacked and slashed print server casing. I gave up half-way into the first DB25 because I got so bored and frustrated stripping and soldering from end to end, as there were something like 4-5 joins per signal - I wanted it to be modular ie separate sections/cables could be disconnected, so had each component inside the PC connected to a fly lead, then connected to the DB25 on the inside of the case, then the cables running from the back of the PC to the back of the external casing, another join into the casing and then each component on it's own fly lead.!!! There were too many connections, too many dodgy little wires where signal could be lost... I still think that a separate controller would be fantastic, but in reality either you you make (almost) solid end-to-end connections, or spend weeks getting it all together! Well, glad that's off my back - onto the next hack-and-slash venture...
