i poked around on the forums searching for a little wondering if anyone else has done this sort of thing... i didn't find anything so i wonder:

anyone out there with some of these? i know it's not a full case mod job and so it's not as interesting probably, it is just a hard drive after all, but someone else has to have done something like this :D

(i actually wish i had worklogs from these, i didn't take any pictures while building them but they were definitely fun to do :cooldude:)

all i have done with my external hdd's is to change the IcyBox knockoff's Bloo leds to Dark Green. The other two are just as they were.

Love the left hand one :)

Thanks, supertoad, and led the possibilitys are endless. I have a dual hard drive enclosure that I got from newegg that can run a hardrive and a dvd burner for my next project. I started using ammo boxes because I had an external cd-rom housing but the power supply was shot so I used a small supply from an old computer and didnt have anything to put it in. My buddys liked it so I built them one.

External enclosures are cheap and all I do is mod out the ammo boxs to fit the parts in and add lights and fans.

btw, one thing i really like about what you've done Racerxmod, is that you put a fan in there.

khendjara'aro i found a apple 2 uni disk and plan on making an enclosure like yours. This one is plastic and opens in the middle my ? is did you put a fan in yours and how did you mount the usb and power in the back.

I plan on running the usb the the back and leaving it plugged in all the time, for the power I plan on useing the exsiting port for the apple to make it look retro.

    Thanks Racerxmod
