i poked around on the forums searching for a little wondering if anyone else has done this sort of thing... i didn't find anything so i wonder: anyone out there with some of these? i know it's not a full case mod job and so it's not as interesting probably, it is just a hard drive after all, but someone else has to have done something like this (L>R: 300gb, 250gb, caddy) (i actually wish i had worklogs from these, i didn't take any pictures while building them but they were definitely fun to do )
all i have done with my external hdd's is to change the IcyBox knockoff's Bloo leds to Dark Green. The other two are just as they were. Love the left hand one
that looks great, racerx, too bad you couldn't find a box that was a bit smaller. khend..ro, i was thinking about building a usb enclosure for a caddy like that, i'd love to see a worklog. oh, and get a shorter name.
dude, There are no limits to what you could use for a case... I dont know why i never thought of that. I'm so going to turn a small chuck box into a 1tb drive, lol. probibly wot, but its fun to think about it. nice job
Thanks, supertoad, and led the possibilitys are endless. I have a dual hard drive enclosure that I got from newegg that can run a hardrive and a dvd burner for my next project. I started using ammo boxes because I had an external cd-rom housing but the power supply was shot so I used a small supply from an old computer and didnt have anything to put it in. My buddys liked it so I built them one. External enclosures are cheap and all I do is mod out the ammo boxs to fit the parts in and add lights and fans. Racerxmod
Thanks Led Yes that would be hard to do I showed the first one I did to a police officer I know and he said it looked like a bomb lol.
khendjara'aro i found a apple 2 uni disk and plan on making an enclosure like yours. This one is plastic and opens in the middle my ? is did you put a fan in yours and how did you mount the usb and power in the back. I plan on running the usb the the back and leaving it plugged in all the time, for the power I plan on useing the exsiting port for the apple to make it look retro. Thanks Racerxmod
Ok thats strange the dates are different than what they are suppose to be, but any way. khendjara'aro if your still around I sent you a email about your mods. thanks racerxmod
khendjara'aro Here are some pictures of a mod that my friend did kinda like your apple. mod on Racerxmod
