I was recently using desktopx to mod my desktop. I just turned on my computer and I no longer have "my computer", "network neighborhood", "my documents", and "IE" on my desktop!!!! They just disappeared! It should be simple to put them back but I have no idea what to do! I tried setting the taskbar to the new xp style then back to classic, and it didn't replace em.... what should I do? I don't want to make shortcuts... I want the real thing back. It's always the little problems that get me!

right click the desktop, look through the tabs (cant remember which one), look for a button called 'customise desktop' and you'll find the options to re-enable them :)

off the top of my head:
right click on desktop -> properties -> desktop tab -> customise desktop -> choose the icons you want
    something like that :)

Right click on your desktop -> properties -> Desktop tab -> Customize Desktop... -> then under the "Desktop Icons" box, check off the ones you want -> click OK in the "Desktop Items" dialogue -> then OK in the "Display Properties" dialogue.

    Hope that helps!

Wow! Great thanks guys! It all worked perfectly. Does anyone know why or how these items could possibly just disappear? Windows seems to do silly stuff like that quite often.

    once again thanks!

Did you create a new user?

some desktopX themes hide said icons. my current one hides all icons, and gives me a nice little toolbar for that stuff.

I didn't create a new user... same use as usual. I tried out a few desktop themes and then unloaded (exited) the program. When I shutdown my computer all the icons were still there. When I booted it up in the morning, they disappeared! Weird eh? I always have little problems like that, such as windows not remembering folder settings ie: setting the file listing back to default tiles, whe nI like it set at details.

Other than silly nusainces like those I usually never have any problems.
