    How?

As the story says, the surgery is relatively non-intrusive, occuring in the mucous membrane over the eyeball. A sterile item is then introduced.

You know how much it is for custom bits of metal?

That's platinum - you're probably looking at £140-£180 minimum for that...

It's interesting...certainly quite unique and about the same price as a medium sized tattoo...

I wouldn't mind something like that. I would of course use a custom piece for my eye(s).

FYI: There's an article about this on the CNN website and they are saying that the cost is 500 - 1,000 euros ($600 to $1,200 USD)

do you know quite how sensitive your eyes are ? there more powerful than a supercomputer! they take massive amounts of data per second, focus it, transfer it to the brain, constantly refocusing (doe sit ?) etc etc. You cant just stick things on them surely, something has to go wrong very soon if it continues!

As with anything new in this sort of scene (for want of a better word), I'll give it 12-18 months to see how things go...

Like many such things, I like the look of it on other people, but I would never have it done myself. I can hardly stand contacts, there's no way I could deal with the idea of metal being in/on my eye. I'll be interested to see if there are side effects later on.

I think it looks quite cool (still wouldnt have it done), weve been sticking contact lenses on our eyes for so long, why not things in them? its not dangerous, and that part of the eye does nothing apart keep stability in the eyeball :) and the focusing and transfers all take place at the back of your eye via rods and cones, so wouldnt affect it at all

Personally, I am looking at getting eye surgery in the near future to repair my vision, and the thought of sticking anything into my eyes frightens the hell out of me.
