New thread for a new season.

And let's kick off the 2025 season with news about 2026, obviously
Cadillac's 2026 entry given formal approval
Unless they're totally hopeless, can only be a good thing, add a bit more chaos to the mix. Although they've appointed the former CEO of Virgin/Manor/Marussia as their team principal, so that doesn't appear to be a great start :hehe:

    Predictions:
    McLaren for WCC
Piastri for WDC as Norris's emotional fragility costs him again.
Things get spicy at Ferrari between Hamilton and Leclrec
Max rage-quits Red Bull at the end of the season and joins Aston martin, as Stroll Snr finally gets fed up of the window licker causing millions of dollars of damage for little to no return.

Speaking of window licking, anyone seen or heard anything about the lack of rocketpoweredmowhawk?

These are my predictions and/or expectations for this season (you guess which is which):
    • Ferrari vs McLaren for both drivers and constructors
    • Yuki obliterates Hadjar
    • Stroll ****s up so bad Aston Martin finally get rid of him at the end of the season
    • Max and Red Bull Racing fallout because the car is hot garbage, it'll go into the 2026 season but that's where it ends
    • Sainz gets a podium in the Williams
    • Hulkenberg gets a podium in the Audi
    • The beginning of the end of the end of Alpine, it'll go into the 2026 season but that's where it ends ends
    • Mercedes are underwhelming but Kimi does better than Russell
    • Bearman beats Ocon but Haas in last place

To be a true Caddy, the car needs to be 6 metres long and weigh 3 tonnes…

Toss up between Alpine [Doohan] and RBR [Lawson] as to who wins the sack race.

Max will struggle to keep up with the papayas due to RBR focusing development on 2026.
Talking of focusing on 2026, Aston Martin writes off 2025 after the first race of the season and goes all in on 2026.
As for the drivers title, Pastry takes it after Lando bottles it at the end.
Constructors a toss up between McLaren and Ferrari, Red Bull and Mercedes having a battle over 3rd but not posing a real risk to the front two.
Williams going to cruise to 5th in constructors.
And the last one is probably too obvious to count as a prediction but:
Get ready for a lot of really stupid drama between the FIA and everyone else.

My money is on Ben Sulayem to win the sack race.

I am really hoping it is a good season again and I'm definitely on the Lewis Ferrari hype train  if he manages a championship run it would be a fairytale thing but in reality I think LeClerc is going to have the edge, I wouldn't be too upset with Mclaren and Norris if not Ferrari :)

I must have missed why everyone thinks Lando is weak (other than his starts).

I reckon RBR will still be fast, just perhaps not dominant.

I want Lewis to win =)

IIRC prior to his first win he made a bunch late-race mistakes that cost him wins, which earned him a reputation as a bottler and 'Lando Nowins'. A reputation/perception that's stuck even now he's starting racking up wins.

    I may be mis-remembering though.

I have a heavy Papaya :worried: bias but wouldn't mind seeing Lewis get his 9th ... 8th WDC

I think there will be a disqualification in the sack race due to an unorthodox weave and max will get community service for having FU written on his sack.

Certainly gained the reputation for it prior to his win-streak, but even after he got a few wins under his belt, he still seemed fragile mentally. Can't remember what race it was, but piastri was ahead and there was discussion about switching, piastri didn't comply immediately and Norris got really flustered. Then there's interviews after races where things didn't work out for him and he's on the verge of crying. I just don't think he has that killer instinct and ability to control his emotions that elite drivers do. Piastri meanwhile seem a cold blooded killing machine.

Wasn't it the other way around? Hungary, Norris didn't want to let Piastry through (but eventually did)?

    Predictions...

Lawson will be quick but gets dumped for incidents with golden boy Max. RB look for another Perez, albeit one that finishes races in the points.
Merc don't make any progress from 2024 leaving Ferrari, RB, and McLaren fighting for both titles. Norris scrapes the WDC. Ferrari win the constructors.
Colapinto gets a full time seat as Flavio kicks Doohan to the kerb.
Haas and Sauber fight over who gets to finish the season in last place. Racing bulls, Alpine and Aston comfortably behind Williams who are the seasons surprise package.

Yeh I think you're right. I really like Norris, as a McLaren fan I'd love to see him win it, he's clearly got the skill, but I don't think his mental game is there. Rosberg won his WDC buy getting into Hamilton's head as much as he did out-drive him. It's a facet that can't be underestimated with the huge pressure they're under.

This. It's what allowed Max to keep Norris behind last year. It's what made 2021 so good. What got Rosberg his title. What Schumacher always had. What made Senna vs Prost so good.

    My predictions:
Verstappen is about to have his Vettel 2014 season.
    Leclerc for champion
Norris second (he's faster than Piastri)
    Russel third
    Hamilton fourth.

Ferrari win constructors by a hair over Mclaren.
    Then Merc
    Then Toro Rosso
    Then RB.
    Sauber last.

Max to frequently and loudly spit his dummy, signs contract with Aston Martin.

In my heart I want Sir Lewis to get that record breaking championship, but I think Mr Leclerc is just a little bit faster these days.
