A fairly basic little log, nothing special. ETA for completion is around end of the week. The brief: A small, modestly spec'd, air cooled machine to use until I have the funds to build a proper watercooled high end machine based around the half price GD65 I got a couple of weeks back. The mods: Dual 120mm radiator/fan cut in roof (done by Pheonixdancer) Black acrylic floor (to cover up triple rad cut done by Pheonixdancer ) Black acrylic drive bay/PSU stealth sheet Front panel, LED, PSU and fan cables braided black Basic window cut The Hardware: AMD Phenom II 720 Black Edition w/Thermalright TRUE Asus M4A78T-E 790GX 4GB GeIL 1333Mhz DDR3 Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 512MB ATI 4870 w/Thermalright T-Rad2 Cooler Master 700W X-Fi Extreme Gamer The Start: How the front will look: Measure twice.... cut half a dozen times. >.< Ugh, will be sleeving these asap: Looks a good fit? It wasn't. Well, not quite. Did that thing we all do where we forget to account for the side panels >.< But i'll sort that later.... But the stealth look is already showing through: Hoping tomorrow to get the 2nd piece of acrylic cut and the floor trimmed up so the side panels can go on.... may even start of the window. Thursday will be a mad braiding day and hopefully some hardware will be transferred over.
Does covering it up with a motherboard count as fixing? Anyways, found a simple top down view of a F-117 to cut into the side panel, cant decide to have it nose up or nose down though: What do we think?
For a side window design, I would have it face forward. Give it a better visual sense. Glad to see another A05 mod. This is like a crazy week for A05 mods.
Actually to most Americans it is surprisingly recognizable as a Nighthawk. Sideways would be better I think. You have the mechanical shape done well, the tail, the wings. No other shape like it. Too bad they retired them. Wonder wha'ts hiding beyond F-35? john
Hello! Got the last piece of acrylic done this morning, aswell as the side panel. Even though I armed myself with a dremel, jigsaw and coping saw I was surprised that I only needed the jiggy (and the drill to do the starting holes). Came out pretty darn sweet if I say so myself, the tight corners need some filing but the lines are straight and there were no "OMG NOOOOOOOOOO!" moments. As you can see I went for a diagonal angle that looks pretty good: Close up to show where the tidying needs to be done: And the 2 pieces of acrylic which will hide the PSU and drive bays from view when the panel is off... aswell as adding to the angular, stealthy look: Now I gotta go find a lighter and get braiding.
shame your photo studio is on top of a toilet. Other than that, it looks pretty sweet, stick a mobo in there so it hides that rat mess. lol!
It's the only place in the house theres enough light for my G1's crappy camera. Will get some decent pics up if we can find the digicams USB lead. >.< Anyways, case cables are sleeved, not sure whether or not to use the stock Lian Li fans or get some Yates....
New PSU from Cookie Monster come today. Got the hardware installed and it's practically finished now (the first time i've ever set a deadline for a build and made it). A couple of things need to be done before I can call it finished though: -Decide what fans to use. Buy 'em, braid 'em and hook 'em up to the yet-to-be-installed Scythe fan controller. -Sort out the HDD/drive bay bezel situation (3.5"-5.25" stabilizer covers the holes the bezel tabs secure into).... Might have to resort to l-brackets and super glue. -Install some filter material over the intakes. The amount of dust that came out the A17 was pretty shocking. :S Anywho, piccies!
I really like how you did those plexi covers to hide the drive bays and PSU, I might have to steal that idea lol.
