When I got my car the shifter was falling off, so I got a spare from a friend of mine as a temporary fix. He gave me a hurst t-shifter, that I've gotten quite accustomed to (it doubles as an arm rest) so I'd like to keep it as a permanent fixture in my car. Problem is, it says hurst on it, and with the huge reputation that hurst has, I feel pretty stupid having it say hurst, when I drive a 4spd honda civic, lol. So I'm looking to cover up or remove the hurst logo on my shifter. I'm thinking I could fill in the hurst with bondo, then sand it to the rest of the shifter, and paint it, or I could grind it down. But the more I think about grinding it down the worse it seems, because then ill have to grind the rest of the handle down to match flush, and it would leave an odd finish unless I polished it to match. The logo is engraved about an eight of an inch in. Any thoughts? Pictures for reference: http://ignition.restocar.com/img174.gif http://www10.ocn.ne.jp/~yams/coolbug/variant/images/shifter1.jpg
I'd have someone fill it in using a TIG welder and then grind it down. The bondo/paint thing would work well but I don't particularly like the painted look.
