I know, lots of "Fallout / Vault-Tec" PC Mods have been done, but I've always wanted to do one, too! It's gotta ship to a friend when it's finished, so I'm keeping the cooling simple and maintenance free. Thanks for the posts guys! Sorry for lack of updates, I'm juggling too many non-PC projects, but finally got break last night to edit Part 2. Defyant will def like one of my other "bucket list" dream build themes, haha
I've always loved your style Bill! And you're nailing the pacing on the vids, super sharp! Can't wait to see the end results, I'm sure it'll be amazing as always!
Thanks for for comments guys! Nice hearing from your familiar faces! The individual I'm building this for really likes the new Corsair Elite LCD AIO. I wasn't aware there was a list of problems documented with these units going back to 2020. After powering up the unit I purchased from BestBuy's online store, system, it had the "Pump failure" error that I learned is documented all over the web. There's recommended fixes on Youtube and this Corsair Elite AIO troubleshooting Megathread on Corsair support forums. *Shut down PC and shut down PSU manual switch, as per Youtube Influencer channel suggestions. *Removed / Re-Installed Corsair Elite LCD CPU block. *Removed / Re-Installed Corsair Elite LCD Screen. *Unplugged, re-plugged all connections, check fitment of all AIO USB and Commander Pro cables. *Install iCue Firmware v4.27.168 update. None of these suggestions worked and I was 3 days past BestBuy's 2 week Return window. I ordered new unit from Amazon Prime on 9/10/22 and swapped the Commander Pro Unit from the Amazon Prime unit to the BestBuy unit and the Corsair Elite LCD "pump failure" was fixed. Everything worked perfectly after that. I will create support ticket and send the bad unit to Corsair for exchange. Here is the bar codes for anyone doing web search to determine bad from good batches of these Corsair Elite LCD AIO cpu coolers.
It probably doesn't help that any electronics purchased from BestBuy have likely experienced 'air time' during shipping/handling. Amazon employees don't have the energy to throw parcels. Even if they did, the shock function in their microchip implant would activate.
haha, never thought of it that way! @Pirra, Good to hear from you! I was told by publisher this PC Mod is for Fallout game's 25th Anniversary this year. (didnt know that!) Here's how I custom painted the Corsair case with the Montana GOLD rattle cans. This system will be using EVGA 3090Ti Cheesecake Gpu in this video card / gpu shelf display stand
I don't know why but Montana cans spit like crazy now. I think they have restricted the flow to help noobs paint without runs. Problem is the flow is so low they just spit like mad. I just keep a rag in my left hand and wipe the nozzle off after every pass.
Lower flow gives the illusion that there's more paint. They got gobbled up by a global, so that kind of stuff is inevitable. I miss the days when you could swap out paint nozzles with a WD40 one.
Yeah, I just tolerate it, cause their color selection is the best and Montana paint is very durable when it cures. Here's the case with wasteland Patina over the Montana GOLD Magic Blue and Easter Yellow colors. Next video I'll share some of the Weathered Paint tips. Note the PC's case front bezel round mesh grill does mount flush, I didnt push it in all the way.
Here's the final results on the painted fallout vault-tec pc fan grill for the corsair sp-120mm RGB fans
almost to finish line, I finished Corsair 400R side access panel to make more progress on the fallout 25th anniversary PC mod. I will share how I weathered everything in the next video installment, part 4 here is previous video, part 3
Still dropping those F-bombs on Youtube. I'd say use gloves too with a grinder. The speed of anything coming off the spinny bit is enough to embed it to the bone. The guard isn't much help in some cases.
