im putting a window into my case. i have an intake fan on the side panel. can i just cut a hole in the plexiglass and screw in the fan as if it was aluminum? or would i have to buy some different kind of material or screws?
As far as I can tell, you can cut a hole and mount the fan right on the plexiglass. No special screws are really required. Keep in mind, you must take care when cutting the hole and driving the screws. Plexi is known to crack very easily. I would drill holes for the screws, if I were you. However, if done right, you can mount your fan right in the window. -monkey
You want to be drilling the holes in the plexi slightly larger than the screws themselves. As with case fans the screws go through the case (or plexi in this case) and screw into the fan itself.
Yes, you're right; I should have been more specific. Good catch! Another point to remember when attching a fan to plexi - or any other screw attachment, for that matter - is not to over-tighten the screws. With most things, when you screw in a fan, "just snug" is generally tight enough. This is even more important with plexi because if you over-tighten them even a small amount, the plexi can crack. Hope this helps! -monkey
