some of you know about my little fan duct problem...

yea, you see it, the big red clown shoe. anyways, here's the deal.

in the front of my pc in the inside, i can mount an optional 80mm fan. it's got the little plastic cage to hold it and it doesn't require screws. wow  the fan in the duct sucks air into the case.

now, in the front where i can mount the optional fan there's holes in the cases frame. in the shape of a circle, id say about 100 holes. on the other side of the frame is the front of the case, the plastic shell. could i possibly mount the fan there with like nuts and bolts? or won't it draw in enough air? seeing that the plastic front is sorta in the way. this is the only thing that ive found by myself. i cant fit a blowhole up top.

also, i could put a smaller fan in below my badge because im not taking the badge off. but it would be a fairly small fan. anyways, i haven't messed with pc cooling yet, so i wanted to be sure before i go moving fans and fry my hardware. any help is appreciated!

    DIE EVIL FAN DUCT, DIE!

window blow hole? you could position the fan in the exact same spot blowing air into the case.... just not in the duct, mounted in the window? just an idea..... but if you're going to use the front mount spot.... cut out the circle area with all the holes so you have one big circle.... get better airflow that way

cderalow is wright!! the fan holes that manufacturers place on cases SUCK!! I have yet to see any case with premade fan holes that didn't! Cut a new one and use a fan guard! Use one of the guides on the tech sites and you will do fine! I personally do not like to have fans in the windows but it is another option, many guides for that too!! go to http://www.mod-search.net/ and you will find all the guides you need!!!

Check the front panel again and see if it has air vents to draw air inside the case--it's gotta have them.... if not, it's a lousy design. If that's the situation, you'll have to drill some; probably on the sides would be best---six or eight 1/8" or 1/4 " holes on both sides would be good. Put an 80mm fan in there drawing air in (after cutting that 80mm hole in the chassis as cderalow suggested); I'd add a filter to that too. Get rid of the duct, put an 80mm exhaust fan there (air out). Find yourself a decent HSF (heatsink/fan) for your CPU like a Golden Orb and install it. Once the intake fan is in, you might consider covering up those air vents on the side panel; otherwise the air intake might just blow right back out there instead of travelling up to the mobo as it should. A little 1/8" clear acrylic should do the trick...even clear packaging tape would do in a pinch.
Is this originally a retail system?

I agree w/ cderalow. If you wanted to you could even attach a real fan duct from CaseETC to the fan and have it blowing right on your CPU... although I would have it sucking. If it's blowing in and there's no fans on your case sucking out then I'd have to believe that you get a lot of dust in there.

If you don't want to spend the money... you could probably make your own very easily out of about anything.

An old HP Pavillion I owned had a duct like yours on it w/ the fan blowing in. I turned the fan around to suck out and the CPU temp dropped 3°C.

those "fan ducts" from caseetc are the same as speaker port tubes from partsexpress.com , only 15x overpriced.

On the same vain, someone used a standard funnel from any hardware or kitchen store, then just cut off the stuff they didn't need. Forget who though, otherwise I'd give credit. :)

Well I know 2cooltek used a funnel as a fan duct. Probably not the only one but he has it included in one of his case modding guides...
