I need schematics for a fanbus. not just ANY fanbus, but a fanbus using potentiometers
    heh
i have 6 fans and 6 potentiometers, how would i wire 1 fan upto 1 potentiometer, etc.
note: the potentiometer has 3 pins
pics would be a bonus, making sure that you clearly label the top and the bottom (of the potentiometer) so i dont get the pins b0rked.
elimination of the resistor would be hardcore ;)

    Ok, here we go

The "even more advanced" fan control circut is probibly the best of both worlds, easy to build, and good results.

As for the pot, if you don't like the way it turns (say turns right to increce voltage to fan, and you want it to turn left to provide more voltage to the fan), just switch the 2 outer pins.

No custom schematics, but hope that this gives some help!

    Ok, the "basic way."

There is no schematic, but this one is so easy, you should be able to draw it in your sleep

Are you happy now :eyebrow: The only real modification you would need to make to this if you wanted to build one of those "power distribution/rehobus" units, you'd need to make a couple simple changes, again, you should be able to draw those changes in your sleep

If this is not what you want, try describing in more detail what you DO want :hehe:

Before you start connecting wire A to pot B, what value resistance and wattage are these pots you've got?

I wondered how long before you asked. ;) :D

I'm hoping that they are somewhere between 20 and 50 ohms, otherwise, bee2643 will need more pots, or a aditional few resistors (R1*R2/R1+R2).

Also, if you are working with potentiometers, short one pin on the edge to the middle terminal. I can't tell you which without a pic and an explanation of the resistance change, but that way, if the wiper breaks, the fan will continue to run.
