Ugh... just checked ebay, one relavent thing from a sketchy-looking seller and no info on how big it really is. Maybe the old tape on there will hold well enough...

My Club3D seems to be fine. I disabled the PEG stuff in the bios, not sure if it's made a difference. Played HL2:EP1 last night for a couple of hours with no problems, anyway.

Does it do a strange desktop-refreshing thing? Could be your memory clock's too high, both me and Highland3r get that. :)

I had the exact same problem with my XFX 7900GT when I was overclocking it. Has anyone else had the same problem? If you did, did it go away when you put on the heatsinks on the regs?

I have two XFX 7900GT's in Sli and I have had nothing but trouble with them. the first pair came all I got were artifacts all over the screen had to alt + tab out and into the game to get it to display the picture then it eventually stopped working. I tracked teh problem down to one of the cards RMA it to Scan who very helpfull btw. Got my new card and now the same problem. This is my first experience with highend PC GFX and its not been a happy one!

It's a memory issue on the cards. The XFX 7900 here runs a delta of 0 and the issue seems to occur 2-3 days after you get the card...

Right, little update on the "dying cards" problem...
IF the card lasts for 2-3 days of moderate/heavy useage (ie a few gaming sesh's) then it seems they'll be ok for the rest of their lives.
Overclocking WON'T make the card die faster, if its gonna die it will whether you run stock or not.
It also seems voltmods don't have a huge affect as to whether a cards going to live or die... This isn't 100% confirmed, but there seem to be cases where an overvolted card will die, and another is fine. With sufficient cooling, vmods shouldnt increase the chances of a card dying. This isn't to say there's no risk to vmods, just that there doesn't seem to be an added risk of killing your card.
Also note, unless you're chasing silly clocks memory wise, its probably not a good idea to do a vMem mod on these cards. vGPU should be all you need.
Once the cards started to artifact/fall over, theres not much you can do you fix em. Dropping clocks (if you've got an OC version) WON'T stop the artifacting. Changing delta's, new drivers, new OS install also have no effect.
The cards seem to degrade the longer they're run. The XFX here started artifacting in 06, but everything else showed no issue at all. When run single (ran SLI w/ EVGA card) the card seemed to be ok.
Slowly, other tests/games showed slight artifacts when running SLI, which led to lockups. Now the XFX card artifacts on its own almost everywhere.

I was going to buy a XFX 7900GT soon... what am I going to do now! :wallbash:

I don't think there is any other nvidia video card about the same prices & performance. What about ATI, do they have any video card about 300$ with the same or better performance?

EDIT: I've decided I don't like ATI, so maybe the only option is a 7900GTX, bye bye money

    :waah: :waah: :waah: :waah: :waah:

I'm going to try and do some digging on this - the situation is getting a bit crazy.

Cheers mate, theres LOADS of threads over on XS about this. One guys done some checks on the regulation for the cards, and it seems that the regs might well be up to the job, they get hot but supposdly within safe limits (though still a little dubious about this)
Nvidia supposdly mentioned something to do with the internal core clockspeeds, however not sure how true this is, from overclocking other cards to the max this "feels" like a memory issue.
Maybe it's jsut simply a case of the memory not being able to cope with the speeds?
Another point (woah @ random subject change) is that the cards seem to "loose" memory clocks quite badly as you up the core speed. Ram on the remaining card ran to ~ 950 with the corespeed at stock, but with the core over 600mhz it seems to max at 850 with 2.03v. It needs a boost to 2.15vMem to clock nicely again.
