Cheese, Just this minute sent the VFD, LCD and Backboard to you. Hopefully, you'll recieve it in the next couple of days. You Got SnailMail! TTFN AF
OH ****! I forgot to put the serial cable in the parcel! bugger bugger bugger! Can you lash one up? It's just a single line from pin 3 of Com1 (or 2, depending on your preference): Datasheet
Major reconstructive surgery! After trying to fit a serial backback from my LCD onto my new VFD, I ended up with: - A non functional LCD - A non functional VFD - A severely injured serial backpack - A severely bruised forehead from smacking it against the desk once I had relised what I'd done The moral of the story is, if you're a ham fisted solderer, (which I am ), DONT RUSH! 'Oh Doctor Cheese - Will they ever play the piano again?'
preliminary reports indicate, -Good chances of saving the lcd's life, missing pads are non connected, should be safe to rewire her. -The VFD needs a lot of work, missing pads on connection side Needs a lot of gunk removal, but with some isopropanol, some silver paint and a lot of careful surgery, I'm hopeful -Serial back board looks ok - we'll see! Cheers, r.
lol... I don't know what's going on, I've got 5 displays in my room again, I'm trying to cut down I really am r.
since this thread is already titled what i want... I'll add on: Cheese: how much do you think it would cost to have a vfd from farnell sent to you, wired up (by you of course) and then sent to me in the states? I've looked around the us, and had some trouble finding them for cheap... i'd prefer serial since I've already got a parallel LCD.... Thanks m8
