Modding FAO Fly :: Mapper's Bare Cold Cathodes

Do mapper's still sell the bare cold cathodes ? and if so do you have any in stock in your store ?

If not anybody know anywhere else I could get my hands on some bare cold cathodes or if it's possible to remove the PC Mods etc version from their tubes ?

I'm not sure what the new CC are going to look like. I think they are bare, just sold in blister packs with inverters and molex connectors. Just don't quote me on that.

 

I just brought some cc's from maplin they were in a small slim plastic case for protection, mine came without the inverters or molex plug. Im not sure what you mean by bare cc unless you mean the standard fare maplin sell which sell for £4.99 each.

 

By bare I was meaning just the glass tube with the wires coming out of each end.

Fly :: any idea when you'll be getting them in stock ?

Thats what I have, in the ilford branch they had 2 black ones left and the romford branch they had all the colours. This was last thursday I got mine.

 

Those ones are actually discontinued so if you find them you are lucky.

 

Just to get this straight in my mind we are talking about RP33 to RP38 ones in the sticky on the modders forum.

 

yep, they are being replaced with kits. I don't have all the details yet.

 

aye i faced trouble with this as well, not to mention staff that cant tell two colours apart and (im serious here) the guy at the till had breasts. As if hed had a transplant! (think fightclub's bob).

Well I went to my local Mappers today and the guy looked up the new CC kits and his system says they are not due in until November sometime. So I might have to resort to plan 'B' and see if I can't disassemble a PC Mods CC.

ok they have some greens in and the invertors but no blue ones, so what do you want to do?, I reckon p&p is going to be about £2-3 but I may be able to get free p&p but dont hold me to it.

 

Many thanks for finding that out for us herbs.

But after ringing several of the stores more local I found that I can get the green, black or white ones, no blue, yellow or pink though.

So I'm off there now to see what I can get.
