    can't think of anyone who'd know better than you..

    I wanna etch the side of my case, into the metal and abouy 1/4 to 1/3 of the way through. I want to use a Dremel bit the cuts a clear line about a 3/4 cm, but I'm having trouble finding right bit. Any advice?

    8) exactly what I want, but about eight sizes larger..

    Dremel makes a range of "high speed cutter" bits, you'll just need to select the appropriate one for your application.

    Probably a 134 or something close to that. Stroll into the local store and have a look.

    More advice: practice on some scrap. It's not hard to do once you get the feel of it, but especially on metal you'll need to get the touch before you wail on your case. If you have a flex shaft, try it out, it helps with clearance (so you don't buzz the workpiece with your chuck) and can help with hand fatigue (you're looking at several hours of work).
