I've just tried installing far cry on my new rig but this error message happens everytime i try to install it:

    *Far Cry Error*

*Error 1335. The cabinet file 'English.cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from cd-rom, or a problem with this package.*

Any ideas what i can do?? as i have previously installed and completed it on my previous computer.

    :waah:

Reading the error it sounds to me that either your disc is dirty or scratched, or that your readers lens may be dirty.

You say that you installed it fine on one of your other computers, so try using that drive over the network and see what happens.
(assuming you have your machines networked)

Finally got it installed by disabling the network. But when i play it, i get a blue screen after a little while. There's writing in white but is so quick you cant read it.

Running a 3200 winnie, xfx 6600gt pci-e, gigabyte GA-k8nf - 9 mobo and 512mb corsair xms 1 stick. A 120gb sata and a 80 gb ide and a Tagan 480W. I have installed onto the sata at the moment. I've updated the drivers, for the graphics card and tried a couple of versions. Also i have tried the 1.3 patch of far cry. Btw i haven't overclocked.

    Need help :wallbash:

In order to see the 'white writing' you need to untick the Automatic Reboot from your System Properties > Advanced > Startup & Recovery.

Its a little bit trickier to find in XP, but its in the same general area.

That way you can check to see what is causing the BSOD.

Could be anything from drivers to heat issues to hardware failures.

If you go to system in the control panel, click on Advanced> System restore> Settings> and then unclick the auto shutdown tab.

I did that, then when i ran far cry, noticed it wasa memory problem. Increased the Vdimm by 0.1V and it solved the problem.

Was that what you were after??

I notice you have 512mb Corsair, same as me ( 1 stick xms Cas2?), they aparently are succesful after an increase of Vdimm as they're quite sensitive in gaming if it is undervoltaged. check that you mobo voltage isnt set to auto too.

Whats actually happening, are you having problems installing it or running it? The problem i had when installing was that for some reason whilst i had my XP network running (or kinda running) it wouldn't let me install to my sata hdd. So i disabled my LAN connection and tried re-installing far cry. that seemed to fix it for me.

If the problem is when you're running it and you get the blue screen of death (lol) then like previously stated it could be a number of problems. but for me it was the ram voltage. But for your self it could be drivers, heat etc if it isnt fixed by increasing the V.

Just try a few different driver versions, re-sitting your ram, patch far cry both 1.2 and 1.3. Oh and i also heard that punk-buster was causing some problems for a friend of mine, so try not installing that with either the patch or game. Or if it is already installed then try uninstalling it 1st.

    Hope that helps :)
