Does it have the same annoying mechanics of FC5 for of game progression? Where 1) once you have racked up enough XP you're going to the boss fight whether you like it or not, and 2) once an area boss is defeated, that area is now devoid of all enemies making the remaining missions and side quests both piss easy and boring.

Enjoying this muchly in co op, aside from the fact my buddy wants to follow the story so won't skip the cut scenes and we're playing it on his save game this time around.

The story does waffle on a bit but the action is great.

    1) No. The game is yours to play and not be interrupted. Parts of it are gated by level etc, but only very specific parts.

    2) No. There are no controlled areas like in FC5 so you're not liberating them per se. Even when you take bases there is still a random Highwayman presence in the area.

One mechanic is that you can "scrap" a taken base for ethanol and essebtially give it back to the baddies. They reinhabit it at a higher level so you can take it again and it'll be more difficult and you'll get a bigger reward. This is not necessarily required but it's strongly encouraged as your other emergent and random ethanol sources are quite small

I played FC5 and whilst I enjoyed the scenery and gameplay I had zero buyin to the story or my character. A mute protagonist in this type of game is just lazy. FC3 is still by far the best of the series for me, although I did very much enjoy the original farcry
