    nobody uses autoCAD anymore
nowadays it's all 3D my friend, and autoCAD isn't very good at that

Solidedge is mostly used (on windows PC's)
It's really a matter of software, the only decent thing you have for Mac is Vectorworks

Not owned, but used for long periods of time. All summer, in fact, I used a dual G5 with 1.5GB of RAM more than I used an x86 system, and I couldn't wait to get back to my own rig. Oh, and about "being on x86 my whole life", this post is being made on my G4 iBook while F.E.A.R. fires up on my main rig. It lags, end of. It's insanely frustrating, too -- a Flash game is enough to lag this thing all to hell, spiking CPU to 100% and killing anything else I happen to be running. What was that comment you made about hating people who make sweeping generalizations? Might want to wipe your mouth there, you have a little **** dribbling out...

Less flame and more fact. Oh, and so what if LotR was made on Macs? Star Wars was made using AMD processors, but in the end it doesn't matter what processor does it, or what architecture for that matter. When you get into the insane amount of processing power movie production uses, the real test comes down to the software used. That said, I'll counter whoever said "Final Cut Pro is the only good software for Mac" or something along those lines -- any professional program that can be found for Windows can be found for Mac. The same is not true for Mac professional programs, not all are ported to Windows.

Go do some research and get some info, then come back and make an educated post. Nobody uses AutoCAD anymore? Give me a break......

And CAD is 3D...What do you think those pretty 3D images you see are? Nothing but wireframes and amazing rendering...wireframe = CAD.

Oh, and Hamish, I apologize. Misunderstood :)
