Once my 17 yr old daughter jumped out of our car, at a rest stop, because we told her she was selfish and just a taker. She then called my ex-wife to come pick her up while we had to wait for mom to drive almost 40 miles to pick her up because she refused to get in the car. If we left there without her we would probably have been cited for child endangerment, so we had to wait. Although, we didn't feel it was such a safe place to leave anybody alone while we left.

I can't imagine driving off without her having parental supervision then, and I certainly can't feel any sympathy for this guy who drove off without his 11-year old. However, I can't imagine his facing felony charges for what transpired here either. He did comeback just a few minutes later. It seemed that he had a choice of whacking his son upside the head or cooling off for a few minutes.

Bad parenting at its finest. I'd agree that a felony charge is a bit much, a beating with the clue bat would probably resolve the issue better. Betcha they'll make a plea deal that will involve a misdemeanor, monitoring, and counseling, which will hopefully be good for everyone involved.

Kids are annoying brats, from age -3 months to 26+. If you can't deal, may I suggest using a condom?

That is some weird parenting technique. What happened to just slapping the kid? Works for me...

The brat's 11, can't he get home on his own? Why all the damn fuss?

Most kids round here have several hoodies, 3 children of their own and a string of flick knives by that age!

Hmm by 11 I was heading into town on my own no big deal, I still would have been scared if my parents and just driven off and left me at a Maccy Ds though.

If the child was being a ****ing dick, then he deserved it, it's like when parents just walk away from school when their child refuses to leave after they have been asked 20 times, as soon as the parent starts walking, the child will run, everytime.

If he was back in a couple of minutes....... well oh well, if he had actually left him there that would be a different story, hell my old man left me at several locales when i was being a lil sh*t growing up, I always felt it an unspoken rule that If I made home alone I won the argument :D Guess what, I always won those ones.

I was somewhat regularly kicked out of the house by my parents as a kid, usually in the middle of the night, just before i went to bed, so I was usually just wearing my boxers. In my neck of the woods, its pretty dang cold in the middle of the night. So guess what? I just climbed onto the kitchen roof, and used my spare window key, and got back in my bedroom and back on my computer and just chilled out. If I heard them say "i'll go let Joe in, i'd bomb out the window and drop onto the back doorstep ready, then just walk back upstairs and back to what i was doing... lol

Or if they kicked me out in the middle of the night, I'd make sure I'd had time to half-inch the car keys, and just go to sleep in the car. Now I think about it, I could always have just let myself back in when they'd gone to bed, but I just locked myself in the car and went to sleep.
