Hello everybody, my friends got a Compaq Presario XP x64 and the HDD is faulty, the recovery partition is on it but even when I do a system recovery after a few go's it wont start, is there any way I can copy this recovery partition onto another HDD or is the only other option to buy a new O/S?

    cheers in advance.

If you have a restore CD/DVD, then you hould be able to copy the files to another drive a reload the factory restore, however i fyou have no disk, and its in the boot/mbr, then you will not be able to do this. Contact Compaq see if they can help or reinstall windows fresh.

    norton ghost

thats what i thought, the computer in question has two identical hard drives so i bought norton ghost 15 undo a cold copy but after inserting the iso i cant find the option. Can you only copy the drives that are in the machine that ghost is 'installed' on?

I couldnt manage to sus Norton Ghost out so I used a free piece of software I found on the internet I returned norton for a full refund!
