I add my vote to the list for In n Out.

Best food ever, on more than one occasion my friends have gone on 8 hour drives just to satisfy a craving for that stuff.

    lol

    Hmm... that's a tough one.

Hardee's/Carl's Jr. - their 3/4 lb thick burger is really good.
Rally's/Checkers - their big buford is good too. (can't believe no one has mentioned them yet)
    In-and-out - the Double
Steak 'N Shake - the Frisco Melt

Edit: Hardee's and Rally's both have really good fries

I once had the six dollar version of that, which was delic, but a bit too much even for a big eater like me. Their buffalo burger really fits me well also for my money too.

I don't normally eat burgers on a night out. Parmesans are the best way to do it.

In&Out is ok. I'd just don't like the taste of their fries. I like Carl's Jr. or Hardees more their really improving their burgers especially with their new ones. Their Buffalo chicken sandwich is perfect!

for sandwiches it's gotta be quizno's (although they're really expensive and really, really hard to find)

for burgers, ultimate burger co. is pretty decent as a chain. i have yet to actually find the ultimate burger, though :(

    The Tavern in Austin
favorite burger there: 1/2 lb. patty, pepperjack cheese, bacon, grilled fresh jalapenos, lettuce, tomato, onion and spicy mayo on a sweet kolache bun, with steakfries.
there's a carl's jr in town, just haven't gotten around to them yet...
steak and shake's patty melt is good too, but the best one i found was in the basement of the texas A&M's student center (hullaballoo i think... it's been 12 years).

Near me there are plenty of local dives where you can get a great burger on the cheap. College towns rock.

Johnny Rockets, mmm mmm. Slightly more than fast food prices, much better quality.
