Here's how I rank my favorite Kevin Smith films... 1. Mallrats 2. Clerks 3. Dogma 4. Chasing Amy 5. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back 6. Jersey Girl I can't wait for The Passion this year. TDK
" Not really a fan or havent seen the others. I was supprised at Mallrats, I thought it would be one of those shitty hollywood teen movies but actually it was quite funny and with good conversations about stuff like Superman needing an equivilent Superwoman cause otherwise he'd be like a shotgun through Lois.
Dogma = teh winner! Then Clerks, Mallrats, Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Chasing Amy, and I have not seen Jersey Girl! /makes a mental note to look out for it next time he rents a movie.
My decreasing admiration for Kevin Smith has matched the similarly decreasing quality of his films. Nausea sets in after about 15mins of anything post-Mallrats.
I voted Clerks since it's the only one I've seen. (Jersey Girl doesn't count as a movie, it was a POS that should be burned forever).
Dogma, clerks and mallrats would my favourites but Jay and Silent Bob is a great laugh when you are in the mood (drunk and stoned)
Horses for courses it seems with KS films.. Personally J&SB is the staple vulgar, slapstick comedy.. Clerks, Mallrats and Dogma win in the 'clever humour'. Chasing Amy was verging on not my thing, but fell into the latter category. As for Jersey Girl, I refuse to watch anything with Jennifer Lopez in it (except when I accidentally watched The Cell), and given the reviews I've read of it it sounds like a bunch of chick-flick treacley crap I wouldn't be interested in anyway.
Chasing amy is brilliant for Joey Lauren Adams who is so damn sexy I like the earlier stuf flike clerks and mallrats but jay and silent bob was a bit too slapstick. Good still but didnt seem as well thought out as the other films. Hoping passion is good. Supposed to be in colour though and have a budget of over 100k
Haven't you seen Out Of Sight? With George Clooney too? That is a quality film. For me it's Clerks. Nothing else he's made even comes close.
All are equally unwatchable. I just don't get it. I really wanted to like Clerks but it sucked, and I'm sorry.
I'm always almost embarrassed to admit that Chasing Amy is my fave - I can't explain it, there's just something about it... Apart from that, Clerks is ace, Dogma great, the rest...not so much my thing, J&SB and Mallrats are a bit too slapstick for me, and Jersey Girl...well, the less said the better.
Anyone who's done any kind of shop work has got to love Clerks. Dogma is always good for a chuckle too. But it makes me wonder how many Preists have a Buddy Christ knocking around.
Theres a statue in st pauls chaple in the vatican and it reminded me of buddy christ. My missus didnt think It was funny.
Dogma had a popular script but Chasing Amy is ridiculously underrated in my opinion. Smith made a great strike against the fundamental preconceptions about relationships. The jokes were the shtz too On the point of the 'buddy christ' your girl needs to lighten up. My partners father is a vicar, he received a 2.5ft plaster christ on a wheels one Christmas from a devout member of the congregation, you should have heard what we thought it was when we saw it all wrapped up on the doorstep, when we unwrapped it we all just fell about, it was the funniest christmas ever and we would all break out in fits of the giggles everytime we thought about it
I cannot believe, even compared with some of the other crap in that poll list, that Dogma is coming out on top. I would rate it as easily one of the top ten worst films I have ever seen.
I think that part of the reason dogma is voted the best by some peeps is because they havent seen some of the other films.
