I'm hungry...its late. I'm not in the mood to spend a bunch of time cooking a proper meal. What do you guys like to eat when its late and you're a bit peckish?
Chinese noodle soups for me pls. I don't want to know what they're made of, but they sure taste yummy.
I try to avoid carbs in the arvo. AFAIK they're not good to have at night unless you were going to make a good effort to burn them off, like running, swimming, humping, etc. I'll have some sort of meat, fish, egg or some sort of dairy - Cheesecake is always good. Vegies can do the trick aswell, celery makes a quick snack that goes down well as is, and doesn't make any mess on your keyboard or paper or whatever.
Celery with hummus or peanut butter is a good one. Also popcorn if I'm feeling naughty. Taco Bell if I'm feeling REALLY naughty.
I've heard in a couple of places that slightly more energy is used in digesting celery than the energy provided by the celery, so you lose a tiny bit of weight just by eating it. Adding hommus or peanut butter or just about anything to the celery will make it about as healthy as mcdonalds fries however.
Peanut butter is actually pretty good to have at night or in general. Not the Skippys brand or other generic brand, more the natural PB. It has good fats in it and if you have it before bed your body will use it while your asleep for recovery/fuel. Before bed or at night I usually have a protein shake(chocolate, 2 scoops), milk and peanut butter all mixed together it is the win.
Yeah but it doesn't taste outright bad. Fast food is kinda weird...you feel awful after eating it, and it doesn't taste magnificent the way lasagne does, but it's still moreish and really gratifying to eat. My fave is golden syrup on toast, or instant sachet noodles. Chicken flavour. Mmmmm.
It didn't used to, but then a few years back it just started tasting crap, so I stopped eating it. The smell alone makes ne nauseous now, probably something to do with not going near it in so long :B Agreed on the noodles. I would advise against living on them, though, they create some rather anti-social gaseous movements >.>
Crunchie Nut Cornflakes. Either with milk, OJ or plain out of the bag. Or Crumpets. I love being british.
I suspect your tolerance of fatty foods changed. These things do shift over time- I used to hate chocolate, then recently I developed an obsession with it and buy it (literally) by the bagful. Used to love coffee, now it just tastes naff to me - can't get to the bottom of why I liked it to begin with. I think it's to do with what your body's doing (and thus needing) at any given period. I started craving chocolate when I stopped exercising, bizarrely enough. Nearly forgot - niknaks. Good snack food for when you're too tired to make anything.
Krikkit I know what you mean, I'd perfer the fries, but as far as I understand if you've gotten used to eating really healthy you'll enjoy it and then when you eat something like fries you're body will retaliate and you'll hate them. In fairness though I can't imagine ever enjoying celery. Wish I could though!
Neither does it create a tango on the tastebuds. Toast, Ryvita or biscuits for me. Usually biscuits. They are the basis for cheesecake, after all.
