I think people get down on Berserk way too easily. Granted, its a bloddy anime, but the story line is pretty deep. The plot isn't, but the development of the charcters is without getting all 'wishy-washy' like so many other animes. You know, how like theres a romantic bond between 2 characters thats never realized and once every episode one hints to the other that SOMETHING could happen? I hate that crap. The characters build some REAL ties to each other and evolve. Its too bad the series stopped just as things went got balistic. Berserk animation was clumsy, but you have to realize the background of the manga for that. The creator was extremely reluctant to anime-ize his work. The resultant release was what he would allow. Notice how some screens are just panning still-shots? Over-all though, the scenes that counted were still motioned.

A couple of anime not mentioned:

Blue Gender: A bit old, but fun to watch for the "Alien" classic style.

Princess Mononoke: Very good stand-alone movie. Combination of moral storyline and action.

Pretty much everything else worth mentioning has been mentioned, except people reffer to DBZ alot and dont mention DB-GT. I get into the mindless stuff every so often. DB-GT is a worthy successor, but it takes a bit to get past the first 7 episodes of "were back to DB the original?". After those eps, it gets back to what made DBZ so addictive.

berserk was a good anime, not one the "samey" ones, like the last couple O' series ive watched. its sticks pretty true to the manga, which is also superb. gats is wonderful, silent guy who has a huge sword, and kills a heap load of people. the storyline is good, although it took me a while to get into it.

i didnt like blue gender, just couldnt get into it really.

princess mononoke was good, but only in japanese. didnt like the american "celebrity" voices.

watched DBZ religiously, but only some of the filler sagas blew. it didnt help i was watching it on cartoon network, who brutalised it by cutting some of the better bits.

DB-GT, hmm, bit of an over extend of the whole dragonball series. still as ridiculous as the others tho.

not sure what to watch next, still keeping up with naruto, atm its a tad boring, but i know whats coming up (manga) so im gonna keep watching.

Those who hunt elves? Texhnolyze (takes some getting into but is worth it!), Kono Minikukumo Utsukushi Sekai (This ugly and beautiful world), Shingetsu Tsukihiume (lunar princess something, worth watching also), Get Backers, Great Teacher Onizuka, Bakaretsu Tenshi, Vision of Escaflowne?

Check animenfo.com for what they are Cheryl n if they're ur type or just read the thread for ideas? Im sure 20odd pages has MORE than enough info.

    Anime highmarks:

    VampireD movies
    Escaflowne
    Gungrave
    Gunslinger Girls
    Cowboy Beebop
    X clamp
    Lodoss War
ninja scroll movies and TV series
    Akira
    Kenshin
Inu Yasha (begrudged, good series but Im not a fan of flakiness)
    Does Xiao Xiao count? :naughty:

Some things about animes I dont care for are flakiness. I posted earlier about how characters interact and have such reluctance about thier situation. The repetitive theme in Inu Yasha turns me off.

Another theme also is when animes dont finish what they start. I understand that series get canceled before finishing a major and involved plot-line, but it happens way too often.

Funimation are hunting down FMA subbers aparently, according to AOI forums.

Looks like we'll have to revert to just the manga to fill our FMA needs and see how it ends.

From where? Ebay? 3 disk set? Region 0?

More than likely BLs which in tern fund international naughties. If u wanna buy DVDs get the region 1 or 2 versions no region 0 PLEASE. I got the 3 disk set last year before i knew and the quality of the disks is ****. :(

I spose its only a buck though

    Naruto: Extremely frustrating.

Im only up to 34 now, but about 5 minutes of ever episode is flashbacks, there's constant talking throughout fights and its turning into DBZ (groan) when they finally get moving and fight it is superbly done but its too few and far between. Not only that but for ninja's they are all mouth and no spine - im shouting at the pc "kill him, rip his arms off!" cause they've just escaped death yet again and turned it around but at the last moment found compassion. So now the bad dude can come back later and kick your ass again (over 20 episodes).

They could do the same thing in half the episode count they are currently on.

Its nowhere near as fun to watch as other series, for the few moments (pummeling an enemys head into the ground say) its great, but the intros have more consistent action in it.

Not only that but i dont get them. I know they are "novice" ninjas but Sakura only knows the damn replacement technique which others can do without the seals. Surely she should move to learn other things (as the rest of them should and probably do later in the series).

EDIT: Forgot to add: Wolfs Rain box set and Gungrave Box set (vol.1's) are out today! Wolfs Rain comes with a Kiba plushie and OST :D, not sure about the GG one.
