Bioforge. I persuaded my dad to upgrade from an SX to a DX2 just for this, £120 I think. I got to the end and didn't have enough battery power left cos I pissed about with the experimental weapon thing, so I couldn't complete it. I cried.. just now omg that was good
I believe games like that do still exist, The Witcher allegedly being one of them. I can't play it myself, I find it too irritating and boring, but apparently there's a huge gameworld and amount of content to get through and a lot to do. I'd be interested to know what you made of FFVIII, it polarized fans. For me, it was trying to replicate FFVII's appeal, but in the process they forgot to give it a plot, characters or character development. It was just as huge as VII (more so in fact) but totally unengaging.
'Phantasmagoria - A Puzzle of Flesh' Using that new fangled 'full motion video' for true horror-perv action!
For some reason I'm starting to once again get interested in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R games, hard as hell to type, and a bit on the tedious side, but something about people with Russian accents killing mutants and getting killed themselves is so magnetic. Not to mention the fact that it's quite moddable.
the whole series age of empires (aoe1&2 (bought the collectors pack) tought me wat a computer was, aom:titans was the first game i preordered, aoe3 was the first game that made me earn some money to upgrade my GFXcard so i could look at the sea battles withouth the whole game grinding to halt) also, i truly enjoyed grim fandango and beyond good and evil... prince of persia: the sands of time, halo 1 and pong on the atari of a friend of mine.
There are just too many great titles that bring me fond memories to include them all, so I'll just type in the few that I remember off the top of my head in no particular order. - Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 - King's Quest 1 - the original text driven adventure - Monkey Island - Final Fantasy VII - Wing Commander 1 and 2 - Ultima VII and its add-ons - Bioshock - Fallout 2 and 3 - Morrowind and Oblivion - Blood - Doom 1 and 2 - The Dig - Zack McKracken - Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle - Elite - Freelancer - EVE Online - Mass Effect - Neverwinter Nights - Dungeon Siege - MDK - Diablo 2 - Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2, the third was a bit of a let down. - Guitar Hero 3 and upwards, number five was a bit of a let down ... I just realized I could go on and on listing games that have given me much enjoyment over the years, so I'll stop here.
I remember when FFVIII first came out...the lead up to the game, the magazines releasing screen shots, the waiting, the conversations I had with my older brother about how amazing the graphics will be! and then when it cam out, again I fell in love. However I didn't love it as much as I loved FFVII, I don't think I could ever love a game like I love FFVII...lol...but it, to me, was different. The characters were different, and the storyline I found was brilliant. The links that all the characters had to each other were cleverly written and revealed throughout the game. The beautiful movie sequences, and the plot twists were amazing, for me. I completely agree that it divided fans, and I can see why people wouldn't like it.

My favorite game of all time is Star Wars Empire at War. But to my disappointment, my game CD broke and I can't play this game again. I wonder if anyone could give me a reliable site where I can get one for a cheap price...
Argh, how could I forget Warcraft 2!! I remember LAN games lasting hours as we all spent time building as many dragons as possible... until we banned them and then we moved onto to churning out as many sappers as possible. Good times. I'd also like to add Doom. idspispopd = win.
