personally im still waiting for my son to grow just a bit older so i can introduce him to pokemon so i.. er i mean we can enjoy it anyway on topic, a whole range of game consoles, all things pokemon, yoyo's, hell even a football at one point.. And of course lego and k'nex
Out of curiosity, which piece? Because, y'know, in Steampunk gear wheels generally go on the outside.
Lego, Meccano, Marklin (H0 scale) trains and Guillow's balsa wood airplanes. I just remembered the time and money my dad spent on the model airplanes and trains. The trains were lots of fun because it was all just fiddling and crashing once the track was set up. The planes were time consuming and doping up the fabric/paper was a royal pain but it was great to see something that you spent months building soaring around like a bird. I may eventually decide to have kids just so I can do all that stuff again
I had a 'lego box' full of it (it was always a treat being allowed to empty it all over the floor, on the proviso that I picked it all up after). I used to like action figures that tied in with various comics/cartoons too. I had a lot of MASK stuff, and I remember liking StarCom too. I love Transformers and before that RoboMachines (which became GoBots) too. As soon as I discovered the Spectrum 48K though all of that ended and I was hooked forevermore
My god, the number of people still playing pokemon at my school is incredible. I half want to organise a tournament so I can own them all.
Is it humourously shaped? Oh and Lego. I had a massive Curver box full to the brim. I'm indulging in the new Technic sets atm, too. I've got four sets built so far. The mobile crane is so far the best. And ZOIDS! Man, I had so many Zoids. The great big monkey one. One that would go in the bath. Awesome.
For me it was Lego, Scalextric, Hornby Rail trainsets, building WW2 models and pratting about building tree houses in the woods etc. O yea and Sonic on the SEGA!
Lego, Lego Technics, Transformers (I also bought a couple of the anniversery editions about 7 years back and kept them boxed (specifically: Op Prime, Jazz, Starscream, and Powermaster Op Prime) and I bought a few of the bigger models to go on my shelf over the years), Action Force (No, I won't call it GI JOE), M.A.S.K., Starcom, He-Man, Hot wheels cars, Star Wars, Visionaries.... Think Most of them are still up in the attic, god only knows what state most of them are in now. Now that Tay is 7 (well, he will be in 4 weeks) I've started getting him Lego kits (mostly the Atlantis ones) and that's got me interested in the Technic sets again, so come next pay-day I'll be picking a couple of kits up for myself I think.
I think it would have been nice to have plastic toys as a kid. In the 50s we had mostly metal Tonka trucks and Lincoln Logs, and Tinker Toys. john
You're not alone, old man. As a kid growing up predominantly in the 80s, I too remember the lasting joy of durable metal toys. Those Tonka trucks were practically indestructible! Though, they did tend to rust when left out in the sandbox all summer.
Ditto. As a kid growing up in the 70s, we had loads of Tonka Toys and a massive tub full of Tinker Toys (although, to me, Lincoln Logs sounds like some kind of chocolate bar). We also had draw-fulls of Lego (and progressed to Technical Lego), as well as Meccano & Fischer Technik, and a whole chest full of Corgi, Matchbox & Dinky cars. Not sure what's happened to them now, I have a feeling my mum took them all to the charity shop...
My Dad's SNES (still in my room somewhere) after my mother banned him from playing it was my favourite 'toy'. Then lego and my first gameboy, the old NES, the n64....and my parents wonder why I turned into a geek
It's actually an M3 Nut. I was quite suprised to see it on my xray to be fair. I distincly remember putting it up my nose when i was small, but i obviously didn't get it out. Hasn't caused any bother.
MatchBox ... trucks and construction equipment (WAY better than hot wheels) Tonka ... used to build stuff Dad even built me a working copy of the old clamshell bucket crane ... it was big enough that you could drive it! while the cab had no roof or windscreen, it did have a starter motor "engine" , brakes, headlights, duel rear wheels, suspension, and an 8 foot boom on the crane on the back with a fabricated 1 foot clamshell bucket ... you sat on top of the roof of the crane to operate the bucket/boom hand cranks .. I was the envy of all the guys
lego, lego dacta (predates mindstorms) no mecanno since it was very expensive and hard to find where i live. Model Trains (HO Scale) and RC stuff (Cars and Boats mostly)
The usual... Lego, Tonka Trucks (i broke one), Star Wars figures and ships....and... My Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future XT-7 jet
Lego of all sorts and kinds! And transformers, god I loved those. I'm talking the beast master one where they were animals and than the crazy futuristic one and yea. I had tons of em and than one day my parents tossed em because I stopped playing with them. They were all in good condition too... damn it!
